Description
about a month and a half ago or so, i bought a fender nashville telecaster. it's pretty cool on the expanded variety of tones it produces. so i went about recording this tune using just this guitar for the electric parts. the song did have to be set aside for a while while i did all the challenge entries. so i finally have been able to finish this one up.

Lyrics
Blue Sky Thought Police

please remain serene
blue sky thought police
are covering the scene
and everything
don't do anything
that comes to mind
the batons are drawn
don't cross the line

blue sky thought police
want to know what's on your mind
blue sky thought dreams
will only bring you down
on the ground you suppress your dreams

please arrest this man
his thoughts are obscene
blue sky thought police
have nothing on me
silence your mind
repress your words
blue eyes and ears
will see and hear

blue sky thought police
want to know what's on your mind
blue sky thought dreams
will only bring you down
on the ground you suppress your dreams

blue sky (2x)

one night i held a dream
they came and took me away
blue sky thought police

the great mr. holman speaks! you sound good in that tele, and as usual your creative juices have produced something very special here. i'm suddenly feeling a bit paranoid. thanks. :)

Thinking good thoughts, as always
Man, that's depressing. Reminds me of the Billy Mumy Twilight Zone episode where everyone had to mask their thoughts. Also, shades of Orwell. Well, it's not out of the question, and worth your musical warning. Effective.

hey Reggie
i remember that episode. when i wrote the lyrics it was in part due to the conflicts in the supressed middle east. but we are having protests against government in the U.S and they are still not listening and trying to repress the growing fustrations.

dang dude, this is another level, Vic did you take super rock pills this morning! The sparseness of the guitar but still it carries a heavy weight great arrangement in the chord structure a definite winner!

no pills or flintstone vitamins... just a lot of time put in to it for fine tuning. i think there is 10 or eleven guitar tracks here, all doing something different with tone or effects

a little vintage guitar shop a half a block from where i work had this ten year old tele. it ended up being a impulse buy, and they even threw in a hard shell case for free.

btw: your radiohead style song is fantastic

i've played with other telecasters in the past but they never really did anything for me. this one plays like butter. i've played it everyday since i bought it. i'm glad that i'm not a big tele-head, the shop has a couple early '50's and a early '60's model for sale. ca-ching

Nice one Vic
It does have a Bowie feel that Ridd mentioned. The tones are sure various.

I don't know how you do the drums, but they nice like a perfect fit for this tune.

Great one.

Perhaps there is hope for the people yet...
Hi Vic. Very topical given what is going on in the middle east at the moment but perhaps there is hope for the people yet. Nice 60's vibe (with a modern twist). This wouldn't have been too out of place on Sgt. Peppers. Nice work. Take care, Peter.

i wrote the lyrics when the egypt protests started and the the riots started to quelch the protests. when victory came i thought well i should re-write the ending. but then more protests in other countries started, so i decided to keep what i had since there is a long way to go for many disatisfied people in the world who are tired of strong arm government control

i appreciate the listen

Blue Sky
Love the tone of the new Tele. I have been a Strat and Les Paul guy my whole life, but my bro' has a Tele and I've always been so templed by it's clarity and attack. This has a cinematic vibe to it, like the soundtrack of a modern spine-tingling alt western ala Quentin Tarantino, dunno, that's just how it struck me. Nice!

i probably wouldn't of considered buying this guitar if it was a standard telecaster. with the added middle strat pick up and 5 way selector switch it can get tele and strat tones. it only took me 3 minutes of trying it out, that i was sold

Gotta love the super twang of a tele
The great thing about the tele tone is that it leaves a lot of headroom for the other instruments to shine through. The bass comes out so nice and crystal clear in the mix.

Great song Vic!
I totally dig the pulloff on the bass at 2:59. Such a simple thing can add so much.
The only thing about this that kills me is that I'll probably have go out and test drive a tele.

Cool song Vic. The Tele sounds great, especially the solo tones you are getting there near the end. No question that technology will take us to the point where this could be a reality. The question is, will we let it go that far? I sure hope not! Thanks for another cool VH hit!
