Description
Here is my first contribution in this year. And I feel ashamed for being so late and not having posted anything for such a long time ... anyway, people have been already messaging me to post sth new so I would like to thank everyone here for creating this great environement of inspiration and support. MJ is unique!

Algenib is considered to be the brightest star in a Pegasus constelation. But the idea of the name came only after the idea of music. And the idea of music came when I was still back in NY almost a half a year ago. While I was struming these cords and watching the night sky from my attic window it felt like going out in the space. Unfortunately I had to move back and was taken by unimportant things like finding new job, new place to stay, moving all my stuff etc ... and I tried to work on this piece since the end of last year. So the jurney has been quite long and tyring at times but hopefully you will enjoy.

From the beginning it seemed to me mostly as a new age piece but at the end it looks almost as a sci-fi soundtrack. I could see some brave, sophisticated and technically unpenetrable astronauts setting for a space quest to discover the distant star and as they would get closer and reach its realms they would become so humbled and illumined by its magnificent light and age old nature beauty ... or sth completely different.

The original audio used in the track is the authentic countdown for the start of Apolo 13 I guess. I could not find the link again ... but it gave me hard time trying to clean all the clipping and noises ... unsuccesfully.
I hope it will give you a nice listen anyway and I will be grateful for any comments from you. THANK YOU!

Hi Karen! Glad you stopped by. Yes the photo fits well. I was actually considering using some banjo sounds, but the Japanese flute did well at the end. Take care!

Worth the listen
Very nice and dramatic, I like the build up and then the drift. Very good backdrop for a space soundtrack. Well done, enjoyed.

7, 6, 5... (life interruption)... 2, 1, Honza!
Excellent piece of music here, worth the wait! As always, bits of Mike Oldfield with the arpeggiated synths and cool "spinning-wheel" percussion. Great mix...

At 2:10, I got goosebumps, excellent way to delicately build that rush of anticipation.

Wonderful guitar work at 5:22. The shakuhachi at the end there flutters in a way that indeed evokes some kind of spectacular indescribably beautiful galactic vision.

Glad to have you moved and settling down, and I hope you can relax in your new surroundings now.

ttfn,
Drakonis

Life interruption ... ha
Great to see you here Eduard and thanks a lot for your nice and insightful comments. I am glad I am settled now, I am especially grateful for the place I have now to stay. It is actually the first time in my life, that I have all my guitars together at one place. So I hope the music productivity will flourish from now on.

Be well
Honza

Maybe next time, lol. I actually tried it at one point, but it did not really go well with the galactic mix of stardust whisper and orbit buzz noises. Thank you for stopping by!

Wowza
This got to be one of the best pieces put up on MJ for some time. Great build, good sounds, good everything - with a few peak moments and/or breaks thrown in for good measure.

It wouldn't be me if I didn't mention Tangerine Dream (and maybe Chris Franke especially) on this. The connection is there but not in any super obvious fashion. I can also understand Drak's mentioning of Mike Oldfield in a similar way - not as a detailed ripoff but in the general feel in some parts. This is one of the relatively few songs here I would really have liked to have made myself ;-) Still, it is now on my hard drive for many future listenings, so thank you!!

Henke!
I am always glad to see you among the commenters so thanks a lot for your feedback. I never really listened to Tangerine Dream although I know it belongs to the cathegory of music that is close to me. On the other hand during the time when I was working on the idea of this piece I just recently had discovered the music of Ray Lynch which pleased me a lot. So it is allways the good old 80s retro new age :)))

Thanks for the tip
I hadn't heard of Ray before but went to listen on his web site. Sounds nice, a bit like J-M Jarre, so may have to go get that Deep Breakfast album :-) /H

Simply marvellous
I would have never guessed this is by you. You've made an enormous jump from very good to excellent. The beginning is perfectly enjoyable and so well layered, with a pulsing flow. The way you mix the guitar with the synth accents and glockenspiel is wonderful, but it's the overall structure the calm buildup throughout the song that i find impressive.

The theme sounds like I've heard it before although I'm pretty sure that's not the case - speaks for the simplicity and clarity of the melody - amazing, such a grand, understated, beautifully conceptualized piece of music. Marvellous!

Hey! Great you stopped by to leave a comment ... and I have to say it is really an honour for me to read what you wrote. I feel I am learning a lot with every new piece but to tell the truth I always feel there is a big deal of good luck or whatever you could call it in all I have done so far. So I am mostly gratefull for all those ideas that have been comming :)

Thank you so much!

I like the slow build of this. Very moody, atmospheric. Ok, that's the wrong word in outer space, but you get my meaning.

Smooth Continuity
Very nice gradual build-up with great pacing. Love the uplift this piece gives me. Very well done! Nice guitar break 5:20 with all the little sound accents. In my minds eye, it must of been a separation stage and now they are heading towards their destination. Anyways, great job and thanks for sharing-patty

Lovely
You captures the mystery of space, the emotion of the moment, and gave it a filmic, majestic quality. There's a sense of history in the voices, with a modern sensibility. Thoroughly satisfying journey, thanks!!
