Description
Che hun ta mo, MJ'ers -

I'm wishing everyone a bountiful and blessed life, first of all. It's been a very busy couple of years with music and I finally cleared a block of time for dedicated production in the studio. Besides meeting the one and only Feter McBlues at one of my gigs, I think about the MJ community all of the time as THE place where much of my career skills have been acquired. Much love and many thanks to everyone who assisted with that.

Though many recordings have been made, this latest track is the first one of its kind for me, so I'm laying it out here for critique in its rough form. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Lyrics
Don't you ever wonder why, to this earth we must be tied?
gravity lets others fly, dreamers glide from deep inside
periwinkle clouds at dawn lead the crimson sunrise on
daybreak drops a saffron bomb, open your eyes

You really think you got me?

as I slip away again, sabotaging discontent
melt into a starry blend, this is how forever ends
catch me if I fall tonight, let our hearts and souls collide
this is where our hope ignites, open your eyes

You really think you got me, don't you?

Don't you think you got me?

Don't you?

You got me.

Saffron bomb!
This is a side to your music that I was not aware of, but you do it very well! I like the space you have here in the verses; it really lets the listener focus on the lyrics, which are fantastic... very philosophical... stuff to ruminate on. Very poetic imagery too.

Welcome back! it's great to hear your stuff again! It sounds like your career is really taking off, which is well-deserved.

Thanks, Clark!
I've been reading a lot of poetry lately; it's starting to manifest itself in the lyrics it seems.

It's nice to be back and checking out what folks are doing. I've missed the production end of things but it's been wonderful going out to perform and teach music on the road. As a long time teacher of music yourself, do you find that the rewards from instructing others sometimes outweigh the pursuit of your own music creation? I find that it's a balance that definitely "swings."

Thank you for the kind words - and I enjoyed "Blues For Alice" and left a comment. Peace to you -

I thank you
for listening and commenting. For years, I've used dynamic mics and finally came around to condensers. They make all the difference in the world for clarity. Thanks again!

No shit? Well, damn - I do thank you for listening and for those kind thoughts - maybe I was right to wait this long to try my first techno tune. But because it feels right to me doesn't mean that I'm speaking the patois, so I'm glad that it works for you. Learned from the best here at MJ.

That vocal...
...has more than a touch of that Brit Pop sort of sound.... Touches of Bowie and a little nod towards echoroom....

And though I'll be guy expecting and missing the dulcimer, on my second listen I really get that your second and third great strengths are as a vocalist and lyricist....

It's really good to hear something new from you, Bing....
dreadmon said 2280 days ago (February 26th, 2011)
Really?
What's up, Ed! Good to see ya, man. Gotta look up Echoroom - Bowie? Yah! I'll take that! Thanks for the kind words, Ed - I was planning on doing something with dulcimer here - but, I began this career as a keyboardist, so just flew with it.

Did this one read okay on your speakers? Feels good from this end, got the bass response and space I was looking for, but sounded like it wanted compression through Sennheiser HD 202 headphones, where Tiesto doesn't sound so bloated.

Wow
Very different from what I expected. Nice to see you around here (though you may have been since I haven't been around as much as I should). I like the production and the music fits well with your voice. Just enough effects to them without taking away from the essence.

Hey Bing!
Something quite different here. Not a dulcimer in sight it seems :) A most enjoyable listen.
