Description
This is a song I wrote and have performed in some form or other for the last 25 years. It is my son's favorite song that I have written. Don't know why I never posted a recording of it before. Guess I always thought I could do it better. Still do but decided to post something just to have a record of it. If any of you production gurus out there would like to work with me on putting together a full production, I would be open. This recording came out of the same kitchen session with the Zoom H2 as did They Call Me The Bluebird.

bronco - lead vocal, rhythm guitar, songwriter
Greg - lead guitar, occasional harmony vocal

Lyrics
I don't want any logical suggestion, just give me your perfection
I don't want a map that shows the danger, I just don't want to be in a crowd of strangers
So I'm just trying to get back to you, oh, I'm just trying to get back to you, yes I'm just
trying to get back to you

Well the storms will come, and the wind will blow
The tree will break and the power will go
Rain comes down and the water will rise
Head for high ground and you are so wise

chorus

bridge: I said, please don't forget me, I said please don't forget me
Because your memory lies deep within my heart

Well I don't care who killed JFK, I don't want any trouble with the CIA
Look to the sky for the truth, the only thing unidentified is the proof

chorus
bridge

Kudos also
Well like an old truck whose transmission is starting to go, I only seem to have a couple of gears these days but the wheels do roll once in a while. I haven't been here near as much as I should have been over the last couple of years but will try to spend more time. I need to listen to a lot more of your stuff, paddler's etc. But thanks for the comment, do appreciate it.

Nice intro. Love the chord changes. Very cool 70s singer songwriter vibe. Great guitar sound.

Thanks!
Andrew the more I get to know you the more impressed I am by your musical knowledge and intuitive ability to get to the heart of a song. I have always thought the key to this song were the chord changes. The melody, lead lines, even the lyrics all seem to flow from the changes. This is one of those where I like to tweak the genre nazi's and call it a Folk-Jazz-Blues tune.

Nice chord progressions
Hi Bronco.. I liked the chord changes.. I am guessing there some minor keys used.. some blues influence.. interesting lyrics

Thanks!
Hey Joyce thanks for coming. Yes, minor sevenths and minor ninths make it a little bit jazzy and dissonant. I was proud when I wrote this song that I was making a transition from the usual three or four chords everyone uses.

Welcome
Feter, nice to hear from you. This is a fun song to do. It's laid back but intense at the same time. Love the transition from verse to chorus to bridge.

Get Back To You
this is terrific Tom - your voice sounds at ease with itself (if you know what i mean) - cool chord changes in here and confident guitar riffing - great job!

Karen, thanks for listening. From the swamps of Louisiana, the hill country of Texas to the forests, mountains and snow of the Great Northwest, Macjams covers the nation.

Trying to get back to you
Really nice tune. Kinda Oasisy mixed with MTV Unplugged intro, then went all 70s on me in the verses and even hitting a bit folky, nice job well done

He's back!
And with a very excellent track. Tom, this is quite excellent--you have all the elements required to make a pop song a success with the listener. This has a folk-rock feel to it that I like very much and a genre you and Greg work extraordinarily with here. Your voice is the ideal kind of voice for me--clear, full toned, good feeling and delivery and easily understandable voicing the lyrics here. If I could single out one thing I would change here, it would be perhaps to find another word for "unidentified"--it just seemed a little forced in there, you know? Other than that minor deal, this gets full marks in all departments and I'd have gladly paid to listen to this (and I'm pretty cheap, let me tell you!) Thanks guys! Michael

I am here
Yes, another improbable post from the man with the . . . no that would be the least wouldn't it. You are very kind with your remarks here. As a songwriter it is always good to get a lot of feedback. You are the first one that has heard this song that had a problem with one word - unidentified. Guess it just shows that we are all individuals to the core. Hey I wrote a song about that too - Individual World. You know Red Beans and Rice is gourmet food to some and peasant fodder to others. As for paying, your work is much more polished and professional sounding and would deserve to be rewarded much more than mine. So thanks for the praise and I will work on that word. Let's see, how about -not known-mysterious-that's a secret-covered in blood(ohh, I like that one).

Thanks
for bringing the blues to were I feel I can identify, you have that blues sound deeply imbedded in you and that is what seems so interesting I think, that special quality in your vocal. Nice allman bro. sound in there too. Thanks for sharing Tom!

Kitchen session :-)
Hi Tom. Nice folk/blues oriented song that is enhanced by strong vocals. The Zoom H2 did a good job of recording the "kitchen session". Congratulations. Regards, Peter.

Lovely
Wonderful guitar strumming and picking. The intro may be a mite too long. But the melody of the main tune is terrific. Memorable chorus. Thumbs up...my kind of song!

guitar and clean vocals make a solid song. How about "unknown" instead of "unidentified"? Thanks.

Good song!
Interesting chord changes happening here, rhythm guitar sounds great, lead is a little thin though in my opinion, needs some processing. Good lyrics and vocals. Overall a good listen!

Thought I'd commented :(
I'm overwhelmed by my backlog here - just catching up (or attempting to do so!). This sounds terrific Tom - the America sound on the strummed guitar takes me way back in time.
Cheers,
Neil

Ventura Blvd.?
Well I've never been there but I guess I could be riding down it on a horse with no name. I only wish I was half as good as America. This is just another jam with all the little miscues and missed notes on the breaks. One of these days I will start doing proper recordings again. Then again maybe not?

I love to play guitar. I have been writing songs for many years and have a large catalog by this time. Songwriting is easy. Writing great songs is hard! Born in Louisiana and live in Texas. I grew up on Chuck, Jerry Lee, Elvis, Ricky, Little Richard ... [see more]
