Description
Sonneries de la Rose+Croix (Sonneries of the Rose+Cross) is one of my favorite Erik Satie compositions. This is my rendition of the third movement. I played guitar, trumpet, and some percussion on this recording - the rest are GB instruments. Lots of fun to do.... looking forward to recording the other two parts.

I thoroughly
enjoyed the bright, upbeat flavor of this. I think your trumpet is sparkly. All about bliss, isn't it? Thanks.

A veritable Satie Soiree!
Not being too up on my 20th century Satie-rated world, I cannot compare to his original scoring, but I can imagine that you put some quite inventive Dr. Who-rewriting into this. Here's to smirky music, nice! And that SM-58 records your trumpet really nicely. Great mix.

SM-58
I've had that mic forever, but it does the trick. I recorded at a friends house a few months ago on a Coles 4038 mic - which was unbelievable. I don't consider myself a huge audiophile, but that thing truly captured the sound of the trumpet (or at least how I think it should sound on a recording). I was excited at the prospect of getting one myself, until he told me how much it cost him.... so, yeah, I'm happy with the Shure mic for now.

Great comments...
I enjoyed reading these --- I always thought this recording was kind of 'dark'. But I'm reading 'sparkles/sprinkles', 'Herb Alpert', 'Dr Who', etc, so... I find that interesting :) Thanks!

Sonneries de la Rose+Croix (Pt. 3)
Brought to mind the dreamy circus quality of "Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite." You're always in good company with a Beatles comparison!

Quirky Greatness
Love the Circus/Doors vibe that the organ gives. Nice clear mix. The bass sound after one minute is sweet. Trumpet sounds so nice. BTW, my main instrument is sax. It would be sweet to collab on some actual horn section parts sometime. Welcome to MJ. Downloaded!

WOW!
I'm unfamiliar with the Sonneries de la Rose+Croix but I love your rendition of it. Beautiful arrangement here, reminds me of a carnival ride.

very very cool
and awesome trumpet playing. i love trumpet, and satie was a genius. you've added some very cool synth stuff in here that I think he would very much enjoy. this is a fun and quirky rendition and i'm really impressed by how well the live trumpet and guitar are mixed in with the GB instruments. you've done a really great job with the mixing/mastering of this piece. i love it!

Wow....
Thanks everyone! After reading alackbass's Mr Kite comparison, I had to dig that up. I definitely see how that's a legit comparison. Hmmmmm..... I'm pretty sure there was a time, long ago, when Sgt Pepper's was stuck in the car cassette deck. I appreciate the positive remarks on the mix as well. That's always a little bit of a stab in the dark :)

Love this...
This is the most unusual, original and strangely beautiful song I've heard in a long time. Would fit wonderfully in an upbeat, awkwardly funny movie (Wes Anderson style?).
All instruments are chosen well, very creatively mixed, it's almost surprising this works so well. The drums samples are a bit basic, but that's the only critisism here. The energy is great in this track. Wish 'Air' had this kind enthusiasm in their music.

Great sound
It had kind of a Pink Panther feeling to me. That's a good thing! So many great instruments that worked unexpectedly well together. Great mix!
