Description
Being a big fan of Augustus Pablo I had to break out the melodica once again and pay tribute to one of Jamaica's greatest talents. Check out his recordings and don't forget about King Tubby while you're at it.

I'm playing a Hohner Melodica, Ibanez Bass, Oxygen 8 keys for the toy piano, and cut up some drums with some liberal delay and reverb.

For Augustus
I've tried the Melodica but just don't get it! I blow on the keys with all my might and nothing..........Oh well! I guess I just don't have the embouchure for it!

Great track! Like a little instrumental ditty between massive hits on a Police album! I know a Police reference shows just how little I know about reggae and dub!

The Melodica is great for traveling
I did a song in Paris a few years back when I was working over there.

I find dub really relaxing too. The picture reminded me of the paintings found in Caribbean restaurants here in NY.

Ever' ting irie now, mon
Da bud-man be channelin' true sounds of home.

Well, not my home but I can dream, especially listening to the bud-man play Pablo and Tubby. It's too early in the morning for a spliff (for me, anyway) but I've taken a copy for later, thanks. Very nice tribute Kevin.

Enjoyed this
very soothing piece Bud (Dub??? LOL hmmmm! Fitting) the percussion is great with the subtle additions along the way and if that's the melodica in back I love the atmospheric sound and feel it gives here, regards M

This was fun to do Tim
frankly it;s hard to stop once you get started. Restraint is key to the genre for me - but hard to maintain.

Great vibe, the beginning could have been in some form of teen movie as an intro, then cool grroves all the way through.... fingerclicking good

LOVE IT! I have been listening to TONS of Augustus Pablo recently. My wife has a Pandora station that uses him as a focus. I am always amazed at the atmosphere achieved in this type of music. Also, in a way how almost every song sounds the same... and weave imperceptibly into the next, no matter the artist. Which is fine by me... This is very groovy, you captured the vibe perfectly.

I really like that tiny bit of phaser you got going in this jam. Just enough to keep the variety but it doesnt loose its sound.

Really good stuff Kevin
I feel like I am back in Brum in the early 1980s, waiting to see a band like the Au Pairs come on while having a beer at the Fighting Cocks or Golden Eagle or The Hummingbird

The simplicity works really well...

Now what about that APOD dub tune that's sitting around somewhere.....

That was the idea -
keep it simple and find a pocket - glad it worked for you. It's as much about Sly and Robbie as it is Augustus.
BTW - I think Michael already posted that APOD dub tune as I recall.

Never heard of him/them unfortunately but I really like this. The reverb and delay drew me in from the intro...goof stuff!

Dropping in
Dropping in for a listen of your music is always an unexpected pleasure, not just because it's got verve, but also because it is so inventive - even when simply playing tribute to another's style.
