Everybody's Favorite Martian!
It is Ray Walston. That really was a great show. Glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to do and let me be the true sci-fi nerd that I am.

Classic!
It doesn't get much better than Plan 9. Actually, it get much, much better than Plan 9, but that's what makes it so great. One of my all-time favs as well. Thanks for listening. Glad you enjoyed it!

Beyond..
.. this is awesome, true cinematic B-movie presence well done
jgurner said 2392 days ago (April 5th, 2011)
B-movie mania
I grew up watching all those great (and horribly great) sci-fi B-movies of the 50s and 60s and I loved them. It was fun to do a bit of an homage to them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Invasion well done
Dark and eerie, just the way I like it. This is really cool Joseph!
jgurner said 2392 days ago (April 5th, 2011)
Thanks Tracy!
There's nothing quite like the theremin to add a little eeriness to a tune. Glad you enjoyed it.

Klaatu barada nikto
well the day the Joseph didn't stand still might have worked as a title .. I heard shades of b&w Flash Gordon at the start, then when that theremin kicks in, I was expecting Gort any sec... or pretty much any 50s sci-fi ;o) Great, fun stuff Joe. Thanks for sharing. (note to self: 1) get theremin plug-in 2) do sci-fi number) :o)

Flash Gordon Lives!
I just recently bought a DVD set that has a bunch of the old Flash Gordon serials on it. Lots of fun to watch. Glad you enjoyed it, Alan. Definitely would love to see what you might create if you got your hands on a theremin and did a sci-fi number.

It's Marvin!
This was super duper coolio. Straight out of a sci-fi Saturday night thriller-chiller. How about like, "Venomous Alien-Blob Takes Over MacJams". Awesome man, this rocks!

Blobular....
And I don't say that lightly....

Particles of sunlight, captured through our superior science, and harnessed through what you humans would call a theremin....

Hmmm...
And here I though theremins were just magic Who knew...?

Good one Joe!
I enjoyed the homage to Herrmann in the beginning (this also owes a little to Dimitri Tiompkin's score for "The Thing" with the "electric slide whistle"). Being a movie buff and especially a fan of sci-fi flicks, I truly enjoyed this far-out score (just to prove it, your artwork features "My Favorite Martian", "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians", "This Island Earth" and I'm afraid I'm stuck on the Muppets picture however!) Thanks again Joe! Michael

Watch the Skies!
The Thing (the original) is another of my all-time favorite sci-fi movies. And another great soundtrack. It Came From Outer Space is another fav, both movie and music-wise. Plus, written by Ray Bradbury.I guess now I need to come up with a movie to go with the theme...

Good eye, btw. I wondered if anyone would recognize Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Truly an underrated movie...

Theme from Invaders from Beyond Outer Space!
Fun tune, it builds suspense really well. It would work perfectly for the space opera genre.

Probing anyone?
Hi joe. I had to keep looking round to see that I wasn't getting probed by an alien while listening. B-Grade schlock at its finest. The Monster From The Black Lagoon was my favourite. A guy in a wetsuit with some seaweed stuck on it and a funny mask. What a blast. Enjoyed the ride. Regards, Peter.

Is that an alien prober...
...or are you just happy to see me? Bah dum! Ching!

Glad you enjoyed the tune. And, BTW, nothing makes a better monster than a guy in a cheesy rubber suit. I guess that's why I love Godzilla movies so much.

What's James Newton Howard doing on MacJams?? :)

love the atmosphere here; it really sounds like the opening to a movie like this!

Thanks!
What a compliment. Howard has done some truly incredible soundtrack work. And on some truly great movies (and some truly horrible one. But that's not his fault. It's M. Night Shaymalan's.)

Glad you enjoyed it. I've always enjoyed doing music for imaginary movies.

Thanks for reprising this!
I think to every one of us who are lovers of movies, of all kinds, but especially the great sci-fi and horror movies--this was and still is a great treat to listen to Joe (in fact, it gave me a big lift listening to this again!) Have you heard Howard Shore's main theme for "Ed Wood"? You have? I thought so! Thanks again and keep watching the skies!
