Description
Hey fellow MJers,

This is a string of ideas I pieced together to give to my friend who plays violin.
I'm hoping she can add some violin licks over the backing rhythm tracks.
This is just a demo, what direction should I take it?

The song title
I forgot to mention that the song title "Galacia" refers to the northwestern tip of Spain. It is a region with a unique musical heritage and is considered a Celtic nation.

interesting
changes in tempo. Did you flange the guitar? My favorite part was around 3:50-1:40, and then the very end. Your friend should be honored to play licks over this. Cheers!

Yeah
Really appreciate the listen.
Used the a slow phaser in one part and a flange in another, there is also sprinkling of chorus.
Thanks so much!

Old School Rock vibe
reminiscent of Black Sabbath. Nice melodic guitar lead parts. Parts remind me of old Metallica. Nice work here. Perhaps some vocals would be cool here.

Thanks Crissew
I grew up on a lot of Metallica and Sabbath.
Always loved the album "...And Justice For All."
Thanks for the listen and good ear!

Thanks KC
I'm working on dynamics right now, so I'm glad you noticed.
A lot of the hard rock and metal that is coming out now is just so over compressed and relentlessly loud.
So, hopefully we can bring some much needed dynamics back to hard rock! :)

Thanks for the listen, I'm looking for any criticism too.
I really rely on the feedback from MJers.

Can't wait to get some 6 string electric violin on this. :)

at first
I thought it was going to be more acoustic in nature but then the heavy git jumps in, To be honest I cant envision this with violin some kicking lyrics and a heavy bass would be my direction, some interesting changes in this, almost metallica in nature, cant wait for the finished piece

Egobandit
Sweet!
Thank you for taking the time to check it out and comment!
Means a lot to me.
Yeah, Metallica was a huge influence growing up.
A lot of Metal bands have used violins or strings, with some killer results.
Anyone interested should check out Apocalyptica - a Finnish Cello outfit that plays metal.

Lost "Heavy Metal" track...
I can hear the violin swooping down onto the battlefield here... I like the touches of synth & organ you have here and there, and I imagine with the violin added you won't need to sprinkle more synth in here (but I sorta wanted to hear more of that in this backing mix.) Have you thought about doing the slow-attack fade-in of a single held (maybe slow-bend-up) note, instead of dropping right into the chug-chug attack at 5:39? The ...oooo00OOOooCHUG,CHUGCHUGCHUG,... thing?
Just a thought to build anticipation.
ttfn,
Drakonis

Drak!
Hey Drak, thanks for swooping in.
So happy to took a moment to stop by.
The synth sounds are actually electric guitar and pedalboard.
The only restriction I had when creating this was that I had to be able to reproduce everything in a live setting. All sounds are guitar and bass.

Love your idea for a slow attack fade in!

Btw, there is a 2nd movement just added, check it out.

Cheers,
John

I love it.
I think it will be exciting to have a really wild violin in there. Can't wait to hear that. Thanks.

Hey Char
Thanks, I made a few minor tweaks burned it onto a cd for my violinist and she loved the ideas ... so it looks like we will all get to hear that wild violin. ;)

Cheers,
John

ooops
ok, you can dismiss my comment on G2. I thought that was your predominant sound, but this is rockin, so i see you make full use of your guitar (s). For some reason, i hear a lot of orchestration as a backing bed. it has that kinda grand sound.
