Description
I wrote this song while I was back in Germany for a few weeks. I was between OIF 1 and what we called "OIF 1.5." This is my artistically over toned recount of my experiences. I've remastered this song before. I think it's a little better than the last version.

Lyrics
• Verse 1
Why am I here in this place? No one has the answers.
Even though I'm trapped down here. Stranded in the cold.

• Chorus
One last call for victory, we all dance in harmony.
There are things you should have said.
It's too late now for the dead.
It's too late now, far too long, for the dead.

• Verse 2
I seek the truth within the sand. There are no more answers.
I hold my life within my hand. Stranded by society.

great riff
Love those pounding drumbeats and that great synth riff. Sounds very professional. What's an OIF? My only crit is that your voice sometimes sounds in a different key to the arpeggio beneath it. Great - really drives along.

OIF
Thanks for the comment!

OIF = Operation Iraqi Freedom. The "1.5" was our joke when 1st Armored Division got extended for 90 days back in 2004, which turned into almost 6 months with the time in Kuwait (before getting "home" to Germany).

I have a bad habit of singing in "G" most of the time regardless of the key of the song. I tend to write in F, so it's usually not too noticeable. I've tried to work away from that tendency. I'm not the greatest singer, but that's why programs like Melodyne exist right? ; )

Pounding
Love the synth riffs. Very raw and driving. Great lyrics. The vocals get lost in the mix in the chorus, but otherwise I like how you have the softer, understated vocals mixed in with the harsh, driving music bed. A nice contrast. Enjoyed it!

Vocals
I've been trying to push my vocals more to the front. Which of course can make you feel naked so to speak. I guess I might throw in a little volume automation to push the vocals up near the end / choruses. Since the song does built more and more as it goes along.

[U-D-R] began it's existence as a remix project dating back to 1996. I used an old "mod" editor called Meditor to remix songs by Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM and Leæther Strip. I tried to write some original compositions in that program, but found it ve... [see more]
