The End of the Beginning

Description
So OBL is finally gone..... This mix is made with three instances of the free Alchemy soft synth from Camel Audio. I'm really just playing with the presets, seeing how, without tweaking any settings, there are 8 sounds available for each preset. Pretty neat.

I believe this synth is pretty cool for free. I wish I could believe as much about the goings on in Abbottabad. It's the end of the beginning not the beginning of the end.

Interesting!
And uber-cool soundscapes. It's amazing what you can accomplish with just a few tracks. Sometimes we are guilty of over-elaberating things when simplicity would suffice! Anyway, I like this one Paul.

I too think this synth is a cool freebee, I've been having a play around, though I think it's more of a sampler really. The new free unit from U-He is more of a beast! [I put a link in the appropriate thread - here:

Hi Dave......
If you install the free version that comes with the Computer Music magazine DVD you can download extra presets from Camel Audio.

The Tyrell Nexus 6 synthesizer is one that I 'found' a couple of days ago and I'm playing around with it. I bought the ACE synth a while ago but haven't really done a lot with it. The Nexus 6 free synth is very similar in some of the sounds.

I've just checked the setup for this mix and there are actually 4 tracks: Airport Breakfast Pad, Glow String Strings, Vocals Angel Drifts setting 3 and Vocals Angel Drifts setting 1. The simplicity seemed to be in the lack of MIDI data in the data I used to produce the sounds.

Take care.

Tyrell Nexus 6
Great name for a synth, don't you think?! I did download the extra presets and installed them. I had to register to do so, and I'm not sure where they have gone! I think they're installed - 50 new sounds? Anyway, I've used the synth in my LIOLI 10 tune, which I will post at the appropriate time!

Take care.

The end
Fantastic. Real ambient music. Does not get any better. Love the suspension throughout. Excellent "just playing." Hat's off, sir. The end is a long time off.

Hi Duane......
I had to put that I was just playing with the presets as that is mostly what I do; arrange a mix by going through presets, for each instance, until the balance is good for whatever MIDI track I'm using at the time.

My music is taking me to some wierd places lately, as I'm experimenting with all sorts of stuff. I walk one musical step then get sidetracked and go somewhere else, then forget where I came from, and so it goes....

Take care.
