Sometimes I play this stuff when no one is listening. ... And sometimes it's better that way.

Taking it outside the box, Paul
I love it when you show this side of your musical personality. It shows that you do indeed have an adventurous spirit when it comes to music.

Thanks for posting and sharing this one Paul, it's going into iTunes and on to the iPod in rotation.

That's heavy stuff Paul. I love your use of broad dynamics in this! How real can a software piano sound? Wow!

Haven't heard a new piece from you in a long time. Perfect way to start my day, while sipping my coffee. Wonderful, just wish it was a bit lengthier.

The description tipped me to this being an instant fave
forget any of us are here more often - I love your improvisations. I heard a tiny Gershwin feel at about 1:00 - you are one subtle dude - probably isn't really there at all - just my associative brain at work. Wait - there it is again at the end. Or is it?
Excellent Paul.

Hi Paul....
This piece made me smile when I heard it. Years ago I used to play the start of the Warsaw Concerto when I had 'something to get out' and I was alone. Your piece sounds in the same vein, although yours has far more technique than my knuckle-breaking stumbles.

It's good to hear you again.

Take care.

Love it. Love it. Love it.

Conventional harmonies are seriously overrated. Moreover, this work is played with a passion that makes me think of a pianist with wild hair flailing around with abandon as the energetic tones of his efforts fill the room.

Love it.

Peace,
Doug

PS - did I mention that I love it?

Emotional range...
Hi Paul. Nice to hear a new piece from you. Something a bit different, but definitely worth posting. You have showcased the emotional range of the piano admirably. Enjoyed, Peter.

Enjoyed,
Harmonically adventurous and played with superb technique. Its like Cecil Taylor mixed with Eric Satie. You should do a whole album of stuff like this.

Channeling Gerswin and Debussy this time?
Very engaging and interesting piece Paul.

Reminds me very much of Gershwin's Prelude in F but the beginning was very much Debussy for me.

Cheers

Dick

A+
You get an A plus on this one, Paul (again)... Outstanding composition, as usual! Seems like your unique and individual take on Henry Cowell, with a little Scriabin thrown in, the combination of which remains identifiable as a Paul Page composition. I am thrilled to hear this! I love it when you explore new sonorities. The ONLY quibble I have, and it's a minor one, is that it seemed to me to be complete before that little tag-on chord at the very end (2:12)... I replayed it a few times just to be sure, but that last chord still struck me the same way. Again, this is a very minor quibble, so feel free to ignore it if you hear it differently!

Wonderful music, Paul.

CC is right on the money. Forget that last major chord salvo. I think I was just trying to absolve myself of the culpability of having written the rest of this, but that last chord just doesn't fit.

Could be my favorite track you've posted here. You kept the dissonance elegant and musical. I'm really glad I happened to listen to this in my studio, the full sound was absolutely real. Thanks for sharing this.

i don't even have a clue what the song art notation means and can't imagine how a brain comes up with music like this, but it's brilliant none-the-less. great piano sound. your performance here is breathtaking in its dynamic range and texture. great to hear something new from you!

let's see if this comment makes any sense...
To me abstraction in art becomes justified and beautiful only when the consciousness of the artist is rooted in a place beyond the ordinary, ideally above the usual turmoil or darker aspects of human life. Similarly in music, dissonance transcends its negative connotations and becomes a genuine form of expression when the artist is either in complete control, or in a conscious flow that goes beyond that sense of personal creation - both signs of a true artist. Both aspects I can always find in your music.

Whenever I listen to your compositions and improvisations, and especially with this track, I simply admire the accomplishment and intensity, sometimes reminding of the poise of the bottom of the ocean, or in contrast, the restless power of the waves on the surface.

Always enjoyable, sometimes striking and with 'Clusters' nothing short of impressive.

It really is amazing ...
... how good virtual pianos sound these days. This (to my admittedly untrained ear) sounds brilliant. I've said it before - I don't know much about the genres you move in Paul, but I know what I like, and I like this.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

I don't think, really...
...that I'd like any one thing you do well as well as I do if that was all that you did...

It's very cool for me to hear the classical Paul, the showtune Paul, the new age Paul, the playing around to hear where it goes Paul, the dissonant Paul...

No one can accuse you of being limited, Paul, nor of being self-limiting...

Very neat....
