Description
My effort for LIOLI 10. Trip Hop? Hmmm. 4 minutes of synth madness more like. 17 tracks altogether, a variety of soft synths used, along with the Space designer, Ultrabeat and the Dub Delay AU. Mashed up some trip hop drum loops, pencilled bass line and you can hear the midi loop throughout. What a poxy loop! Only so much you can do with it. I like the floaty mid section best, after that, it all goes a bit crazy.
Anyway, my take on the it. Have a listen!

This is great! Excellent sounds throughout and a great arrangement of all the various elements. I like the use of old school analog sounds with more modern and lush digital tones. The mix is outstanding!

Fantastic
synth sounds. I just love that grooving deep bass riff that rides underneath. When it ended I looked up to see 4 minutes were over too fast. Enjoyed this very much.

luscious
Ya know - if we took any of these entries alone, in another time frame and space - we wouldn't isolate the loop we've all been hearing repeatedly. That part of this challenge is the most difficult.

You've taken what could be construed as drab, and given it a twist and elements that really work; great job with that, thanks.

Hi Dave.....
This is really a great mix. It was engrossing from the get go.

I thought your choice of instrument and percussion were spot on.

Take care.

Poxy loop
Hahaha. Poxy. Oh, my. I'm not sure what trip hop is, but in any case, this is a trip. I also like the floaty mid-section the best, but 'tis all good. Great bass sound. The percussion work is outstanding Superb sound quality.

You've got
a steel drum sound and an almost didgeridoo sound, which makes it wildly old world or tribal sounding. I have visions of animals running over the plains and men with spears chasing them. Thanks.

nice one
at 40 seconds you have that loop going with an old skool synth sound and I used a very similar sound on mine. we're the only 2 i've heard so far that had any similarities in approach (although yours is far more relaxed and sounds better than mine). love the bass sound you have going on this one. don't you just love Logic? nothing is more fun. this is a great track, loop or not. what synths did you use on this?

One reply for all
I never get a notification to say there's been a reply to a song I've commented on, so I'm assuming no one else does either. Sometimes I feel as though I'm talking to myself! You have to go back and check, manually, so to speak! So here's one for all of you, just in case you return to check.

Just want to thank everyone for all these kind comments. I am just about sick of the loop now, but it has been a real eye-opener to see how you've all manipulated it! Some truly mind-bogglingly creative and inspiring work. I now have a new iPod playlist too!

Thanks again.

Nice mash up
I like the sense of ebb and flo you achieve as the filters open and close and the hypnotic continuum moves up and down, closer and further. It sounds a bit like a really nice music bed waiting for a solo...?

I haven't heard the loops on offer in the LIOLI challenge so this is pretty fresh for me and if the loops were poxy you've made great use of them.
Reminded me of The Man Machine by Kraftwerk but reworked and tweaked to much better effect.
Good use of sounds and drums all through.
Thanks for the download.
I'm trying to get more of your stuff on my ipod
cheers

Classy
Hi Dave. Cultured trip hop? This is really classy stuff. Maintains interest and sounds fantastic. The analogue synths do it for me. Enjoyed. Regards, Peter.

The Revoicing Master
This is really good work Dave - the laid back beat, the interesting bass line, and then the morphing you've done on the main loop itself.

Very original. Almost a spacey feel at some points (about time for another space race ??....)

Thanks for the dload.

Cheers,
Doug

wow dave
i had no idea there was a new LIOLI going on - show's how much i haven't been around lately. so, upon finding this out, i went to listen to the loop and good grief, poxy is right. (even though i can only guess what poxy means). but you've done wonders with it! truly, this is an excellent piece. really great changes in mood, love your synth choices and using the loops steadily underneath adds a great base for your artistic synth machinations. i love it!

You get such rich sounds from your software synths. Always interesting and always impressive. This is especially cool. The deep bass certainly works for me.

Great
Been listening to some LIOLIs now and they are pretty good all of them, really, but this was quite to my taste, even if I was a bit scared by the genre at first ;-) Very nice sounds and dynamics in the composition, like Tobin said.

Sorry to say I was too busy this May to take part. Maybe next time.

Take care.
