The Boundaries of Reality

Description
This is the shorter of two pieces mixed on the same theme, that of Reality and where it stops, if at all. Is a state of mind a reality or a construct of our imagination? Is imagination therefore reality?

Anyway this mix is 10 minutes and counting. It develops very slowly, as I'm once again using SLFO's to vary the basic sounds. They take, theoretically, ten times as long to change to the same sound shape that a normal LFO would be, if that makes any sense. I could be rambling on once again.......

Some
really great sounds and developments in this one, Paul. Actually I like the developments so much that I find the key changes a bit "annoying". They often (not every time) feel too sudden or fast. Would it be possible to make somthing similar without them? Or at least more seamless. Not sure how you build your music. In my case it would be a bunch of (long) lines drawn with the pencil tool, and in that case changing one line at a time rather than all in the same accord would probabaly do the trick. A pitch bend kind of function could perhaps do the trick as well. You probably could come up with better ideas yourself - if you think it worth while to test this...

Anyway, thanks for letting us join these trips. Take care,

Henke

Hi Henke.....
I hear what you say about this mix. The changes you talk about are possible, of course. If I revisit this piece I will certainly give your ideas a chance and I will rename it 'Henke's Tune'. I could do the trick with fades or longer intervals between changes. Mmmmm. Intruiging.

I had the changes in the piece because that is how they sounded OK to me keeping in line with the idea for the tune but I do know what you mean. The longer mix is over twenty minutes so I wont be uploading that one any time soon, as it's based on the same MIDI sequence as this mix.

Thanks for leaving your thoughts on the mix Henke. It's good to know that you listen to my pieces very carefully.

Take care.

Paul

Indulgeance
It's like walking through a wind/sound tunnel with your feet weighted down and your eyes closed. The rich, indulgeant waves of sound go through and around you without deviating from there purpose, to wrap you in their loops as you move forward. Quite a journey.

Hi Serena....
Thanks for stopping by and taking the journey. I love your description of the soundscape as it played upon your imagination. As you comment 'Quite a journey'.

Take care.

Intriguing
Hi Paul. Intriguing is the word that best describes my response to this piece. It is far removed from what I normally listen to but it had a type of hypnotic effect and I lasted the 10 minutes. Thanks for broadening my musical horizons. Regards, Peter.

Hi Peter....
You are most welcome to visit here and take in one of my soundscapes. It is thoughts such as yours that colour my musical day.

I meditate lots and my soundscapes evolve out of that world as a consequence of my lifestyle and my interests.

Take care.

This
is a work that invites us to ponder those questions. It may not have answers that I can comprehend but it poses questions which is really what matters. Very contemplative Paul and well worth listening to my friend.
Cheers,
Charlie

Well, now I understand...
So, as an Ambient artist, I see where you're coming from now re: your comment on my "ambient" piece. This is more understated, more spare than the many layers I was incorporating... It sort of slowly pulls you along, inexorably, but denies you the destination for a long while... This would be wonderful to meditate to, I must try it... :)

Hi Phil...
Thanks for stopping by to listen. I've dropped you a note about this, just now.

Good luck with the meditations. The pieces I create help me lots in my quiet moments alone.

Take care.
