Om sommaren sköna (the warm)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
A traditional folk melody. Summer is approaching.
I have posted other versions of this melody before. This is more warm, calm version.

What attracts me with songs like this - songs that were made before machines, cars, telephones, credit cards, red lights etc - is that they carry a timeless peaceful stillness that is vanishing out of our culture today ... maybe some of our kids today don't even know what it is.

Your playing is always so inspiring. Wonderful tone. Excellent attention to dynamics and phrasing. And of course a stellar performance. I need to go practice.

Those deep, warm bass notes...
...simple as they are, are the frame or structure from which the melody spins out...I love that in your playing, you give them time to bloom...Across all the years in which I've listened to you, Johannes, your feel for pace, phrasing, timing has been one of the hallmarks of your playing...

The recorded tone is very balanced and full, with great resonance without getting too wooly...

It's wonderful to wake up to your music once again....

The warm
Johannes, this is just stellar. The way you pick out those notes, they all have their own space to breathe and link together to make the most cystal of melodies! The warmth to that guitar tone is great - not sure if that's achieved by straight sound or some post produciton EQ but either way it's fab. Recording acoustic guitar is fraught with traps and you've produced something here that seems effortless but still speaks of a ton on skill. Like Andrew, I'll be off to do some practice this evening under a cloud of guilt! Fantastic tune sir! Perfect accompanyment to today's sunny weather.

I think a lot is due to the oldness of it. Songs made before machines, cars, telephones carry some peace that we miss today .. maybe our kids don't even know what it is.

Om...vanishing piece
Vanishing Peace: would have made a great title. Very true. Simplicity and melody, a pastoral passage that seems totally out of place and out of pace with the world to day, and what a shame that is. I for one, love it and am a bastion of desire for music such as this. The want is not dead, just dormant until the world burns through it's flywheels and comes to a grinding halt and we once again discover this peace and this piece and embrace it for all the healing it can bring us. Gorgeous.

life's a blur... with some...
I love the delicately slow pace here, and this timeless melody requires us to stop and pay full attention, savoring each curl and wisp. I have loved each version of this you have recorded. Before Twitter, before first-person-shooter games and TV, before war and the dark ages, there was always music. Thank you for performing it so well. Hopefully I don't have to wait quite so long for my next Curry-Fix :-) Always great to see you here, Johannes.

Johannes!
This sounds beautiful - emphasis on "sounds". In addition to Ed's comments re pacing and timing, I think what I like most about your posts here is the richness of the recorded sound. You seem to get every last bit of sound out of each note - I also love your subtle tremelo on certain notes here and there.
Another classic!

A lovely piece, Johannes... and performed with a deft, loving touch.

Your technique is as artfully subtle and warm as the tune itself.

Nicely done, my friend. ;)
