Description
Composed (and recorded) back in March/2010. Inspired by a view of beauty clouded by a little sadness and hope.

tks!
it goes a little off for a bit - guess it reflected the inspiration... there is something there not completely "in harmony" but you gotta see the full picture :)

A New Morning
I'm a real sucker for plucked strings. Nice gradual build. I love the delicate piano melodies.

painting outside the lines
The unconventional dissonances here and there do add drips of bittersweet lemon to the almost saccharine-sweet piano, perhaps closely mirroring life itself in this case. Not quite my cup of tea (I prefer no lemon in my Oolong :-) but it certainly caused me to stop and contemplate things, so that is cool!

Nice...
I like your piece very much. Side note: The orchestral additions are effective in some areas that builds emotion, but I would of prefer straight piano (that's me) since I'm biased :) Listening to some of your other pieces you have come a long way. Looking forward to many more. Thanks for sharing! patty:)

morning
dude this is beautiful....i hear it over some 'artificial eye' movie. i hear eastern european/slavic influences. simple, haunting....expertly realised and wondefully conceived. well done. one of the best of its kind on macjams.

A New Morning
This is beautiful and melancholy. It builds nicely but end too abruptly ... wanted more. Great production and you play with emotion.

I think
this is a lovely piece full of longing, memories and wistfulness ( I just wrote that before I read the description above).... it has the kind of melody that has an Italian flavour and they're almost always beautiful melodies. Love the orchestration and faltering violins and I wanted it to go on, regards M

A New Morning
Serene simplicity. Oddly off kilter - like a somewhat bittersweet ending. Nice strings. The plucking better at the end that the beginning. Cool.

6 months???
Well, you've had the gift for a lot longer than that, clearly. There is a basic harmonic maturity to this that is indelible and compelling... the secondary string part maybe tries a little too hard, wants to do too much; the essential simplicity of the piano part sits so well on its own that I think that the lushness you went for there with the strings might be a smidge overkill. I listened a few times, and tried to isolate the piano in my mind to see what, if any help, it needed. It sounds like you weren't confident in the piano part, and tried to dress it up, but the base piano part is so achingly beautiful, so well constructed, that it stand on its melancholy own. I hope you take the critique in the kind spirit it is intended, because I think the piece is beautiful, played tenderly, emotively, and honestly... If I were to offer a suggestion, it would be to simplify the secondary parts significantly, and let that haunting piano carry the piece...

great feedback!
really appreciate it! And I agree, some places sound too "dressed up". Maybe I'll try a new (and expanded) version only with the piano.
thanks for the many suggestions!

I
love the piano melody, sounds beautiful and the plucked strings sound great as the song builds with the strings.
I like this kind of music and this is a wonderful piece that is very well produced.
Very much enjoyed.
