Description
This mix is the first of yet another new series. This time an experimental series based on a thought, a word, a concept, but seen from another point of view than the normal. This first mix is based around the word 'Ouroboros'. I'll say no more.

The pieces will be three minutes in length and this one comes in at just under that. As they are concentrated mayhem I would have gone insane working on them had they been longer. Some say I've already reached that dark land and there made my home. I say my passport is valid for a while yet......I may tarry for a while whilst exile taste so sweet, the succour of things wanted, things had and now all but gone save memories and they themselves seek fading as their end.

Hi AJB......
For a short length of time I myself have been wandering in this maze, searching for the thread that will lead me out. I've picked up some lost coins along the way so Charon will be satisfied.

Take care.

Was getting warmed up!
I like this piece, but my journey was cut short. Unexpected...

I love the blast of textures in the start, like the creation of the physical. My imagination was just about to let go and then everything ended. Love for it to be longer :) patty

Hi Patty.....
I'm sorry about the length of the piece. I thought that with the music being minimal in this mix, that I wouldn't give listeners too much to have to listen to. Maybe I was wrong. I'll see what I can do to rework this at some time into a longer soundscape.

Thanks for stopping by.

Take care.

Strange realities! I did find some similar sounds and pads when I composed Ouroboros three years ago.
You did a very fine work here ! :)

Hi Harald....
I must check out your 'Ouroboros'. I had not noticed it amongst your works.

Thank you for your very kind comments. They mean a lot to me.

Take care.

I see
a world bathed in blue light. Cold, dark, uninhabited?
Perhaps once.
Perhaps again.
Short but very effective.
Cheers,
Charlie

Hi Charlie.....
I thought that being short the piece would be more likely to be heard. I had intended that the piece be purely experimental in nature but it came out more 'normal' or soundscape-like. Sometimes the oscillators have a life of their own!!!

Your picture is perfect for the mood of the piece.

Take care.

Wowzers
I listened to this earlier, but got called away. So of course I had to come back to re-listen. Very mysterious, a bit short, but still very cool.

Hi Dani......
Two listens.....Mmmm. I honestly expected no full listens, from anyone. After all it is experimental, but I'm shocked at the stats here.

You're very kind with your thoughts and they are much appreciated.

Shortness, to me, was going to be good for this mix, but I made a mistake!!!

Take care.

This has a darker, more mysterious feel
than some of your other works. Not horrifying, but a little edgy and where 'unknown' is not a bland descriptive for not occured yet but it takes on more apprehension. Really like this one Paul. dloaded.

Thanks,
Doug

Reinholt56 said 2375 days ago (June 16th, 2011)
Hi Doug....
Yes. This is different. I set up my gear totally different to the usual and used samples to create the noises and then manipulated them to make the soundscape. I think that 'edgy' works here.

Take care.

Hi Paul - I can tell I'm going to LOVE this new series you've got going - I sure wish this went on longer - maybe you'll develop further as you go along? Thanks for the ride - always love your stuff!

Hi Karen....
I promise to make the next track longer!!!! I'm up to a four minute track now in my mixing, so I'm getting there.

Thanks a ton for your support. It's good to have.

Development is central to this 'Abstract Realities' series so we'll see/hear what comes next.

Take care.

Paul

Good ol' experimental
I'd say this is a "classic" experimental piece, with strange not necessarily harmonic sound blasts in a stunning sonic environment, i.e. high sound quality, big and clear. Here I probably should drop some names on experimental composers of the 20th century but my knowledge of those guys is limited I'm afraid. Still, it sounds like them...

However, I need to get back to this and listen when I can turn up the volume, but it sure sounds very promising to my early night ears. Good job, Paul.

Thanks and take care,
Henke

Reinholt56 said 2375 days ago (June 16th, 2011)
Hi Henke.....
I think that the quality must come from the sound font samples that I used. The actual mixing and mastering were minimal at the side of what I usually do to my mixes. I'm glad you enjoyed this piece. I wasn't sure if anyone would listen to the full mix!! I've been pleasantly surprised.

Don't damage your ears with the high volume....

Take care.

Concentrated Mayhem...
... on a stick, that's what it is... You manage to find such ominous, invasion-foreshadowing colors... the metallic harshness of space, the desolate desperation of madness... Another pulse pounding vision quest, my friend... Well done!

Hi Phil.....
Having so many great musicians commenting on a single soundscape gives me, the composer, a treat in how others hear/view my ideas. I could never even dream so vividly as some of these impressions describe. To try and capture some of these pictures would be something to work on. Mmmmmmmm. Now where to begin....

Your thoughts are very kind and generous.

Take care.

Stunning

The music is great - the poetry every bit as good. Excellent atmosphere and fine control of your dynamics. I love this.

Reinholt56 said 2368 days ago (June 23rd, 2011)
Hi Bud.......
I have no idea whre the 'poetry' bit came from. I've Google'd the quote in full and it didn't come up with anything and I know I was having major migraine problems that week, and was hospitalised for a day or so, so it may be a brain storm of some sort until I can prove either that I DID come up with the words or I DIDN'T come up with them. Either way I'll be happier than I am now about them.

Thanks for your very kind words.

Take care.

Metal Monsters
This one scares me a little as I'm claustrophobic and although this is a large hanger of a room there is something decidedly unfriendly that seems to be scowering the place looking for brains to eat :) Still enjoyed it however. SS

Hi Serena.....
Apart from my Halloween specials, my pieces are meant to be 'good trips', but this mix did come from a dark day in my life so that's probably where the vibe came from. Glad you survived the listen, haha.

Take care.
