Description
Was in the mood to record a piano song so sat down in front of my piano and started to play. This is the end result of this improvisation.

Hope you enjoy

Controlled passion
Glad you were in the mood. The is some nice controlled passion on this piece. I enjoy your playing. Powerful is a good description. A tad too much reverb/echo? Enjoyed. Regards, Peter.

Thanks
The reverb is a curved space reverb I like to use because it makes a clean sounding piano and a rounded sound. I tried some others but the song sounded a bit harsh without the sound rounding this reverb creates.

Also glad you like the song :)

I love the simple yet powerful themes you built this on. Excellent use of dynamics. I like the light hint of bowed strings in the piano sound.

:)
Yeah was just one of the basic synth patches that comes with Synthogy Ivory turned very low to make the sound fuller and more rounded.

Thanks for comment much appreciated.

Nice ..... Piece of work....
With a touch to much reverb, I can understand your approach sound wise...
But the distortion in the top end of the reverb is counter productive
to the true dynamics of the keys.....
Mind you it's a great project for just a sit down, I think it is worthy of
another look just because of it content.....It's solid.....

Yeah
It's not the reverb that caused the distortion just me getting to vigorous with the amping lol

Beautifully improvised. When you have a feeling to make music the feeling comes out. When you practice and polish something over and over it gets tight but loses feeling. I love the verb on this. This has emotion and dynamics ... I can feel the energy. Enjoyed this.

I agree
If your in the mood to play just play I say :) Probably why this release is not as polished as I try to usually get. Recorded the song dry then added a amp a reverb and tiny bit of compression all in under a hour. Usually takes me weeks to do a track lol

Also thanks for comment much appreciated

Just
so wonderful to be able to sit on a whim and play anything at all, let alone something like this with such strength and feeling. Wonderful, regards M

Love the tension..
I had the pleasure of having an improv piece be completely record-ready once, it's glorious. This is very strong thematically, more organized and focused than mine to be sure! Love the mellower stance at the 2:00 mark, a nice counterpoint mood, though the same tension elements are there... The downside to an improvised piece is that it's hard to go back and recapture the original muse if you try to play it again to correct anything you think is amiss. Only the most minor of things that would have even merited that sort of attention, something in the reverb curve that gets a little overdriven in a couple of spots, nothing serious. The way to combat this kind of thing (if you're not already doing so) is to record completely dry, and under-modulate the levels (I'll sometimes record with peaks as quiet as -24dB just to ensure I have headroom...). You can always add gain, but you can't fix a clip. And, with effects, you can experiment in post to get just the right thing, make the decisions when you're not busy improvising. Love your playing, and very much enjoyed the piece!!

Thanks for wonderful comment and your right improvising make it hard to get that song back again luckily I used Ableton Live to record the song in midi so all the notes and note patterns are there if I ever need to reproduce it. I did record it dry I just went a bit daft with the amp'ing.

Powerful.
In a word, that is what this is. It would be great as the soundtrack behind someone taking on a dangerous or grueling task like climbing a mountain or trekking across the Serengeti. Love it. Thanks.

In the mood
There's no doubt your mood comes through. The improvisation suggests strength, maybe a hint of anger. I like the change at 2:00. The strings in the background give something for the piece to sit on, and provide some sort of counter melody which adds interest. Much enjoyed.
