Description
Well I started this on Sunday with a little guitar groovin' thing I was playing with and laid it down to a click track thinking I was going to just keep it just guitar , bass and vocals and off it went. I keep hearing all these wonderful sparse recordings on MJ and I am determined to keep it simple next time around.
This song really is just all about life moving by so fast that you got to do some things you really want before it passes you by.
The painting is my old 66 tele and my yellow chair in my imaginary room. I don't have that tele anymore and I loved that guitar ... but not as much as my 63 jazzmaster.

Great dimension...
LOVE the reverb field on that guitar, and the placement of the keyboard... Terrific, low-slung funky grove...I think you have captured a good sense of sparseness even though therte is an ambitious track count, the mix is very transparent! And the painting... wow, do you have a site where I can look at your paint in more detail??

Funky stuff Stan. I love the vibrato on that guitar mate. It's a great concept for a song and superbly executed. Those little organ breaks are a nice lift and really keeps you interested - fabulous song writing and execution.

Gosh...
...if you could get together with thoddi, that would be some snaky groove...

I really like this, I like the guitar phrasing and tone, and little bits of organ peeking around the corners... I'm also very partial to the graphic... Probably 'cause i've got a similar looking Tele and chair... But I like those tones, too...

Really nice...

Very cool track!
Love the groove on this, and the production too. You get a terrific bass punch (what are you using?).
I'd be very pleased with myself if I came up with something this authentic. My only nit is that I think you might lose listens by putting it in the "smooth jazz" genre. Way too much rock in there for that - maybe jazz/rock/r'n'b/soul or something. In the "old days" I think they may have called this "blue-eyed soul", and I can imagine Boz Scaggs ripping this apart.
Great post Stan!
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Coulda, shoulda, woulda
A plucky little number with a late night jam feel that builds and goes pleasantly OTT reaching Big Band standard. I love the little flashes or organ and flute, you really threw a lot into the pot here. I could take slightly less backing brush work but that's just my taste.
Hey, don't regret the songs and riffs you coulda written - there's still time :)
