Edge of the World

Description
A little slice of indie pop that spells the end of a particularly dry spell, song-wise, for me. This is fairly raw, there's not much production to shout about apart from my first attempt to play with a tempo change (something that's scared me for a decade).
I was trying for the sound of a band practicing a new song here, and as such all the parts are played in there entirety, without and cutting and looping. As a result I think it adds a little atmosphere.
The edge of the world refers to the Aran Islands off the West Coast of Ireland, where I recently spent some time. They are spectacularly isolated and have a way of clearing the head that needs to be experienced to be believed.
Enjoy.

Lyrics
Misty island locked in fog
The only thing I miss is my dog
Wonder if this is the place for me?

It's a pretty time for us
We break our bread without a fuss
There's something in the air round here

Oh oh oh

Holy relic in the sand
Holy book lies in my hand
Shipwreck on the shore tells me it's time to go

On a god day you can see
The coastal lights away from me
On a good day we can be as one

You taught me how to understand at the edge of the world.

Edge of the World
Very nice melody. I do like the line "The only thing I miss is my dog"
I like when the guitar gets crunchy at about 1;09 and I like the rhythm change at around 2:50 and the way it rocks out. Great harmonies.

This is a great song
the production is perfect - less is more for sure. Excellent guitar control and solid bass and drums. Really tops.

I think there's some very good production happening here, but not to the point where it loses it's indie rock cred. Well done!

Paddy
I always enjoy a Paddy song! that drum roll into the ooooo's is priceless! I wish I could experience that isolation ! This sure cleared your head! the bass is a bit behind around 3:07 but besides that a solid song!

Nice
Indie college slow rock.
Back to the nineties with those relaxed cranbery guitars.
Nice vocal melodies to man!

Nice song Paddy! Really enjoyed listening to it.
Excellent guitar and singing. Always cool to try something new like a tempo change. Drum rolls also a nice touch.

i like those high backups
really, really like them. cool little song with that anthemic vibe you're so fond of. the thing i like so much about it is that it's a very simple tune but it's never boring, you've got all those arpeggios in there and you can just get lost in the chiming.

one of the guys in my office was recently married out there. he said the view was spectacular but the wind nearly blew them off the cliff.

New strings AND
a tempo change .. now steady on! ;o)

I was be a bit more selective on when to use the higher vocal parts .. I prefered how your vocals worked doubled in the same register.

Sweet chorus, well sung/delivered. Liked the speed-up but even more the slow down ending .. must try that chestnut myself.
