Description
This is my first track in Logic which I'm currently trying to learn. It started out as a dark sci-fi landscape but ended up as a lullaby from space! I added (somewhat cheesy) samples to go with the space theme.

Hi aRcTip.......
This is a great Ambient soundscape. I thought the chord sequence was very evocative. The voice overs were effective too. I enjoyed the buildup and suspension through the mix.

Take care.

Really nice.
And a great ambient mix. I wonder what this would sound like without the drums? You could add some cool sparkly interludes in there and they wouldn't get lost. I too like the chord progressions. Simple, but really effective.

Wow, congratulations
to your first upload here at MJ! And what a debut! Really cool space ambient piece with all the right samples and all (cheesy or not ;-) And you only started making music this spring? And in Logic?! In my book that's pretty amazing...

Since Dave brought it up I am kind of curious too how it would sound without the drums. They are not bad, especially when they reappear at around 2 minutes, but are usually not required in ambient pieces. I guess you might have put it in "Cinematic soundtrack" as well, it feels rather filmic to me - but then again genres aren't that important...

Again, very nice first upload. I am looking forward to more.

Take care and glad fortsättning på midsommarhelgen!

Henrik

Good Night
Hi aRcTip - what a terrific first post! really effective format, i really like the voice overs too. like others i wonder how it would sound w/o the drums, and like others, it's not that the drums sound bad, because they sound good to me, it's just that it inserts a kind of driving energy into the song that kind of detracts (for me) from the otherwise ambient soundscape. just a thought - it's a very cool song - congrats!

perhaps the moon is made of cheese
but this is not. I like it... Drums always pull music out of the "Ambient" genre in my brain, but perhaps this could be considered "ET Downtempo" or something new :-) I love the synth choices, and your decision to ramp the drums in, then out, works for me, creates some energy that then wanes again. The sound bytes work too, but again that is because (1) I am old enough to remember them live and they still give me shivers of delight and (2) The Genesis passage reminds me of a cool Mike Oldfield album I have which used the same sample, so this ties to it in a good way. Anyway, nice mixing... I've not taken the one small step to Logic, bu tit looks like you're doing well!

actually
dig the drums...adds some energy of movement that works for me here. It's like moving through a time warp of an amazing event in my youth. Nice track all round... btw welcome to the MJ Zoo!

Excellent atmosphere - I like the pumping
rhythm - and I think the samples work really well actually - especially the breathing. Kudos for moving to Logic and nice work first time out. The bass movement at 2:15 sounds awesome. I kinda hear this a new backing to Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb (in space) - I hope you don't mind.

Balanced and evocative
Orbient's 'Sojus' comes to mind, but this has more life energy and a gritty, darker feel with nice soft synth clouds added, lifting up the listing experience to a very comfortable place!

I like this - could be much longer (the rhythm could easily come back, adding a minute or two) and I really enjoyed the choice of drum loop (or did you program it?).

Soothing, but engaging. Great first post!

Lovely
soundscape: clever and I can feel myself leaving terra-firma...the omininominomous vastness of space. Part of the progression reminded me a little of the bridge section of Air's "Sexy boy" but that's prolly just moi..

Good Ambience
The opening synth drone was chilling then came the breathing which added the sonic expansiveness of your sound scape. It's funny because I just finished watching the movie For All Mankind which puts this piece into perspective. Thanks for that! Well done-patty

Good Night
Space can seem glamorous, but when one examines it closely it is discovered that it's actually pretty scary. I think your piece does a good job describing that feeling during the opening moments, but then you manage to shift the emotion to one of hope and curiosity. Very cool. Thanks for posting.

Very nice.
It sounds like breathing at first, like what an astronaut would hear inside his/her suit. I like the transition to the peaceful music. What has the learning curve been like, going from GarageBand to Logic? I'm scared to make a change! Nice work!
