A very worthy piece
It sort of has smart thinking written into it, gives the listener confidence. The conflicting timing and the distant flanging add a unique touch. Held my interest well. Serena

Your comment is most welcomed. I'm pleased that your interest was maintained. It IS rather longwinded.

I like especially all the synthy bits. Man alive, this starts to COOK at 2 mins! Reggie Pole would like this, if he were still around. ;) Great stuff.

Hi Dave
Yes, I figure RP and a few other of his ilk might go for this indulgent, overly loud, tuneless bombast. What to do? A little light on the synths for this one. Trying out a new guitar chord sound that I kinda like. Thanks much.

Welcome Les!
What! "The" Skippy and Melissa? wow, i thought they were confined to rehab, forever.

An excellent opener sir. Thought provoking and elegant in every way. Are there subliminal message too? It's all too beautiful. Brilliant sounds made to measure and suit.

There's me thinking this guy has got more clues than an average Joe.

Hey. Damn right it's "THE" S&M. They're under obligation to me to appear on everything I do this year. I am jazzed about that. They owe me a favor viz-a-viz the rehab business. Heh. Thanks for listening, kind sir.

First post ... excellent stuff. I enjoyed this because it's different. Your guitars are mixed well in my phones and a great crunchy thick tone... cool lead harmonies... like the way they pan around my head in spots. Nice job with the drums ... time changes are interesting and well done. Little bits of vocals are pretty cool ... dark laugh. Good driving bass line underneath. Great rock instrumental! Look forward to hearing more of your stuff.

Nice to meet you. I appreciate your thoughtful comments. I'm pleased that you approve of the little bits of guitar manipulation, as well as the bass and drums, which took some time.

Hahahaha. Love it. Others have claimed that RP created a hole in their head(s), so this is most welcomed. I will work hard to fill the RP void with a series of unnecessarily noisy and gratuitously longwinded concoctions. Thanks.

Reincarnation comes to mind...enough said about that. Brilliant tune here. Lots of tension and drive, and bitchin' guitar tones. I feel like I'm doing 100 mph down a long stretch of road, late at night, in the fog, with no headlights. Just goin' with the feeling, not knowing (or caring) what's coming next. Just open to all possibilities. Thanks for posting.

welcome (back), Les... this is definitely of the epic variety. so many twists and turns that i was on the edge of my seat listening to this. your trademark edge and surgical precision really come through; i'd recognize your sound anywhere. oh yeah, Skippy and Melissa round out the sound nicely! thanks for the d/l.

Les is More!
Most of the world is Kloo-less regarding how to stuff so much guitar, bass, and swirly synth-bits into the low-ceiling of an MP3, but this sails through with headroom to spare. Artsy, gritty, weird, and deliciously tight.

ttfn,
Drakonis

Pro quality prog which reminds me of a guy that used to post around here named Reggie_Pole. I also hear some Rush. The odd time feel, awesome crunchy guitars, and loony tune synths combine to make this a memorable journey. Terrific production.

Hi Dave
RP? Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. I thought there was a bit of Rush here too, so the fact that you said so hopefully means I'm not crazy. I always liked Lifeson's rhythm sound on Grace Under Pressure in particular. I was trying to copy that sound a little, although I cranked the volume a bit. Thanks a lot for the nice comments.

full sound left me feeling quite mad
in a good way. :) Nice ensemble of segments, you kept me guessing but you definitely sound like you know what you're doing. I can imagine driving or taking a speed train thru neon subways with this song playing, and it would also make a great theme for a rockin' video game. Nice work.

Neon subways ... nice image. Thanks for that. I also appreciate your comment that I know what I'm doing. Haha. What I'm doing is to make up a 30-second snippet, then let it snowball. Sometimes the snowball gets posted, but usually not. But the overarching question is: although I may know what I'm doing, should I be doing it? I reckon we all ask ourselves that from time to time. Well, enough analysis. Thanks much for your comments.

Hey, nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you like the guitar noise. I used about 6 different settings for this one. It would take four guitars + bass to pull this off live, so it's a bit of a cheat when you get down to it. But I'm OK with that. Thanks again!

I saw your "check out my latest..." in a song comment and couldn't resist visisting just because of the song title. "Unrepentant Sociopaths" had to be something i needed to hear. Wasn't disappointed one iota. not one. tho, as someone stated earlier, you sound nearly exactly like a 'former' member whose style is hard to cover. i read your bio and saw a slew of the same favorite artists listed. matter of fact, Vai and Bjork were the only two i didn't particualrly care for from the entire list. got an instant fan from one song.

I suppose I am stuck sounding like RP with my current setup. RP gave me all his stuff, and I tend to copy his style. Heh. Thanks for coming to check this out, and thanks for your fan support. Now about Vai and Bjork ... nah, it's fine ... we all have our tastes, eh? Very hard to justify, impossible to understand.

Got it in Spades
Yeah, let's call this "Smart Rock", not "Smart-Ass Rock", but intelligently written and brilliantly executed music. The careful control of the chaos is a sign of someone completely on top of their craft and sure of their intent. Great stuff from start to finish. Sound quality on the overall mix and on each instrument is really nice. Perhaps this grows a little long in the tooth after awhile for my taste, but damn its well done.

Thanks for the thoughtful (and flattering) comments. I tend to be long-winded. I have erred on the side of brevity in the past, and promised myself I wouldn't do that again. I prefer to err on the side of longwindedness. But believe me, I hear what you're saying. Anyway, thanks again for your feedback and for your patience.
