Description
This song just came into my head as I walked into the kitchen singing to myself and this time, I didn't think like i normally do "Oh, I'll remember that", because as we all know it never stays in your head if you leave it a while, so I turned right round and headed for GB to get the melody down. After tea I went back, picked up the guitar and the words just flowed like honey. It's a nice romantic sounding song I could imagine in an Elvis film or some other romantic feel good film.... hope you like it. No loops, I had to use midi brushes and cymbals for the drum beat to keep it nice and smooth...... Right then, candles or sparklers at the ready, hold them high and sway to the music LOL

Lyrics
Every Time
1st verse
G Em Am D7 (Am/ D7)
Everytime I think of you, I wonder what my life would be without you,
Am D7 Am D7
The loving ways I’ve come to know, would break my heart if they should ever go.
G Em Am D7 (Am/ D7)
Everytime I see you smile, I want to stay around a while, to hold you,
Am D7 Am E / E7
Knowing glances in your eyes just leave me breathing heavy sighs of love.
Am Am7 G E7
No words could ever say how much you mean to me, I’m sure I must have told you,
Am D7 D7
There’s no need for you to answer, ‘cause it’s written in the stars that you are mine.

C7/ Dflat7 / D7

2.
Everytime i think of you, It seems I see the world anew, so tell me,
What’s this magic you impart, that stirs up all this love within my Heart.
When you’re not around to hold me, jours of the day go by so slowly,
That’s the reason why I dream that you will soon be home with me once more,
Never in my wildest dreams, would I have ever thought that you could love me,
When I see your face I know it’s so, your warm embrace confirms it even more.

Instrumental break.
Knowing glances in your eyes just leave me breathing heavy sighs of love,
No words could ever say how much you mean to me, I’m sure I must have told you,
There’s no need for you to answer, ‘cause it’s written in the stars that you are mine.

Rpt 2nd verse

outro
When I see your face I know it’s so, your warm embrace confirms it even more.
There’s no need for you to answer, ‘cause it’s written in the stars that you are mine.

I almost
can hear this in Italian. Every time I think of you (Ogni volta che penso a te). It has an old world sound. Glad you captured that. Thanks.

I know
what you mean Char. It does have an Italian feel to the melody and that's probably why it takes me personally back to the 70's when there were quite a lot of Italian inspired songs around 'Volare' etc. Thanks for listening, cheers M

I love...
How you get such an old school sound out of your recordings; they sound like they are coming from a tube amp vintage radio; both in sonic quality and musical style. Love the classic melodic structure... Thoroughly charming and warm piece, such a great mood infuser... :)

Took ages
to find a suitable picture, but I think that one has a bit of subtle humour as well as fitting the song. Thanks for dropping in Bob; yes it's accordion on the midi and it's one of the three free ones in 'Boldt' DLd's...... glad you like the song ( and again the chords move places from when I upload to when they appear on the page), regards M

Yes Charlie,
I think I learned my lesson on leaving songs and thinking/ knowing I'll remember them; I've done that many times and then lost them. Now, 'Butter on hot cakes'.... LOL, I love that expression and with this style of song it fits perfectly, so thanks for that .... Cheers M

Now...
I've just listened to some dub reggae, some full blown electronica, a classical piece and now this, all here! What a collection of music there is. And all out there and available, thanks to people like yourself. I love it!

Maurice, you are a master at this, a true crooner, who can play too. Excellent, though I might up the bass a bit. Minor nitpick. Really nice "oldy-worldy" song, right up there. I'd like to hear it in Italian too, btw!

Dave
you get the full gamut of songs and styles here at MJ and what i like more than that, is that everyone appreciates each other whatever the style/era/ genre.
I appreciate those very kind words.... the bass is in there, but I lost clarity in the vocal when raising it more..... as I said to Char last night it's taking me all my time to sing at all even in English these days, through shortness of breath, as you'll detect on the last word in the song( less than perfect, but the best I could do), but I agree, it would sound nice in Italian. Thanks again my friend, regards M

My mum and dad
would have loved this - reminds me of one of Dad's Chick Henderson albums (Dad served in the British navy with Chick on a couple of ships I think). A very 40s sound. I'd probably have mixed it differently, but as I wasn't around in the 40s, what would I know?
Keep 'em coming Maurice,

I remember the 40's alright and the music of the time (the house was full of it), though I must look on you-tube for Chicks music (my Dad was in the Navy too). Neil, you would certainly know more about mixing than me, from whatever era LOL and I thank you for listening and the nice comment, regards M

Beautiful Maurice. Wonderful melody and very romantic. You have a real distinctive voice and it works well with this style of music. Good job with the midi percussion. That accordion sound gives it that european flavor and I just love the sound. I really enjoyed this song very much.

Thanks Sammy
wonderful comment for me to welcome and appreciate. You know, there's a series on BBC Two now about songwriting and how the 'top dogs' go about writing so called 'hits'. Last week it wasRufus Wainwright with pop 'guru Guy Chambres (of Robbie Williams fame) and last night was the guy Mark Ronson who wrote for Amy Whinehouse.... both times they did nothing that all of us don't do messing with a riff or chords, then fitting it to a beat. The singer making up a melody as the chords roll along (I work like that)The result was very poor in both cases and THEY had all the orchestra or backing that they could desire, which made Rufus's song sound quite good, but last night was terrible..... and these people are at the top and lauded for 'being at the top of the game', we don't stand a chance, because they also hand it round to five or six other people who have an input of some kind, so it makes you wonder who actually 'wrote' the song. It did me good to see that they're no cleverer than us except they have everything at their fingertips.
Anyway rant over, I need to thank you for the kind words and for calling in to listen, regards M

agreed
see it every day. if turn on a net radio station or watch a video. i see a few great bands and artist that deserve their recognition, but it's directly countered by too many crappy (usually even MORE famous) "artists" that are all about show, money, being 'groomed', and having the 'right' look. talent and MUSIC have nothing to do with their fame. don't even think i need to mention names. then i listen to stuff on forums like this and hear, and mean from the heart, some REALLY great songs, but we're like "nobodys." I think the industry stopped caring about music in the 90s and it's just about who can make them the most money and appeal to the most airheads.

Lovely melody & changes. I especially like the close harmony. I can see dancers twirling round to this. I think they used to call this kind of tune a "belly rubber". And finally--a really charming vocal performance.

Well I've done the white glittery suit and flares in the 70's and I looked OK too at the time, but people tend to talk when I wear them now. Thank you for listening and even enjoying my sound and so glad if it cheers you up. Now go have a great time, regards M

Glad you liked it, but you know at the age of 75, one doesn't have as much breath to carry the vocal chords, hence the slightly 'off' tones. I think i need to go into one of those recording studios that most of the famous young 'top' singers who can't put two notes together use and get a technician to smooth it all out for me, as they do LOL, Cheers M

I like how
the accordian adds that touch of 60s French candle-lit romantisism. I picture this playing in the background as Inspector Clouseau takes a date to a restaurant. Excellent Maurice...bit rough round the edges (not vocally btw) but a great tune all the same. I think the double-bass should come up a bit and let the guitar take more of a back seat until the vocals aren't present.

Can't
get away from those 'romantic ' comments and that's good Alan....... I got in a bit of a state with the bass as i felt it was coinciding too much with the vocal when i raised it, but I do take your point about 'a bit rough around the edges' due most likely to the arthritis in the fingers of my left hand, which is a killer at the mo. Thanks Alan, I really do appreciate your input and you having called in to listen, regards M
