Description
This is a song I wrote long long ago. It's probably my personal favorite as far as guitar work I've done. Though it's a little raw, it gets across an emotion that I feel often so it's a song that's always pretty relevant to my life. There's a note I sing in the latter part of the song that's held longer than any note I've ever sung also, so you can look forward to that. :)

Lyrics
I'm livin' on a treadmill
The faster I'm goin' the more I stand still
I have to get off it - I'm not so sure that I will
It's been so long now, I don't remember

I'm livin' like a slave
Tryin' to save what I already gave
Help me to find some way out of this cave
I just can't see the light
Where is the light ?

This long frustration's just another way of life
and if I start to get my fool life together
the truth will cut like a knife

Oh, the changin' of seasons, well, it ain't gonna come around here
My soul's in the way of facin' the truth in this atmosphere

Hangin' like a trophy head
My eyes wide open but I've long been dead
Go out in the woods and see the trail I've bled
but you wouldn't want to live the life I've led
All the time I've spent
All the words I've meant
didn't make one dent

I'm livin' on a treadmill
The faster I'm goin' the more I stand still
I have to get off it - I don't know if I will
It's been so long now, I don't remember

I don't wanna remember

Nice work. The drums are underplayed, and sort off-kilter in a good way. Good lyrics and vocals. Synth/key additions add nicely. The lead guitar parts are musically fine and well-placed, but they have a certain non-optimum tonal quality that I hear from time to time in others' work -- I don't know how to describe it -- a slight out-of-tuneness possibly. Bent notes have to be bent a little more precisely maybe. On the other hand, the lead parts do give this a mournful quality, and that's probably a good thing to have here. The distorto guitar is bit over-distorted. Nice work on the held note -- big inhale, now. Interesting ending with the toms ... hmmm. When Father Time gets the blues, those are mighty blue blues indeed. All in all, this plays out effectively.

Ah, a talking guitar, very rich. I always like a song that has plenty of space like you have here - it gives the listener the chance to digest the meaning and also be entertained by the delightful extras you've injected into this very professional arrangement. Great ambience and some quirky instrumental effects (That squeezed sound- e.g. after "remember" is notable).

As usual your lyrics reach above average standard. I feel kinda depressed from the sentiments but that's not a problem, sometimes you need a song to reflect your lows.

Wow, that held note was impressive ... and the fade out drums that seem to fall away to infinity :) Serena x

love your vocal quality on this as well as on your other tunes. Treadmill... sometimes ya gotta get off and unplug it. Eloquent solos.

I remember
this feeling so well in previous jobs. Remember scribling down " Walks in a straight line, leaves home the same time, because he has to. Life's mapped out, It's a roundabout". Enjoyed the sparseness of this song and the guitar work. Time for a life change methinks!! Cheers Mark

Some nice lines in the lyric: "I'm livin' on a treadmill The faster I'm goin' the more I stand still" "Hangin' like a trophy head My eyes wide open but I've long been dead". The guitar lines are expressive. Cool changes. I get a Neil Young vibe.

The first line...
...drew me right in before the song even started. Some strong lyrics and really good song writing. I think I might bring the drum up in the mix a bit and thicken them up, but otherwise it's really a great tune.

this is actually a pretty cool tune. there's and 'emotioness' about it that's it's main appeal. really good lyrics. i like the 'feel' of this more than anything.
