Description
Dandelion.

In the meadow-grass
The innocent white daisies blow,
The dandelion plume doth pass
Vaguely to and fro, -
The unquiet spirit of a flower
That hath too brief an hour.

Ellen Mackay Hutchinson Cortissoz

First of a series. Imagine a field 0:13 where the dandelions are growing and then flowing in the wind 0:43. One gentle blow or breeze will set them free 1:22. Flowing in the currents of the wind where ever it may go 2:20. Let it fall gently 3:40 and let it germinate into life once again as nature has its way 5:07.

Lyrics
This one is another live shot. Instead of using the arpeggiator I tried to recreate it myself. Lots of twists and turns. I hope you can follow. I am still learning to structure, so it may be rough in some areas. Again, without the use of mixing monitors, I prefer to listen through headphones. I hope you enjoy it. Patty

This tune paints a really vivid picture. I can clearly imagine the field and the plants in it blown by the breeze. A really evocative piece, much enjoyed. Cheers mark

A musical painting
AH! those minor keys, can't get a better sound in my ears. Flowing rich and delicate, this is beautiful. You have done a good job with the accompanying pads and strings. Love the mood you set here with rising and falling notes.

Steve, thanks so much for taking the time to listen. Minor chords-gotta love em :) especially minor 7ths my favorites. I'm glad the mix was decent, I thought the pads might of come out too heavy-so I'm glad for that! patty

Wonderful
I was always fascinated by the dandelion. When I was a little girl, my Dad told me if I made a wish while holding a dandelion, it would come true. Crazy enough, I still believe that.

This was so beautiful to listen to, you are incredibly talented.

The genre choices is always daunting for me, I never know how to categorize my own stuff. They should have a drop down for people to vote on to help you choose-hehe

About the mix, I appreciate the suggestion. Are the pads/strings too low both on speakers and headphones? Let me know thanks!

Hey gator :)
Thanks for coming by. I was thinking the same thing on the brightness. It's always hit or miss when mixing on the headset. First mixes were muddy coming from my cheapie computer speakers. So the 4th round had much more emphasis on the highs, which is weird because they sound way to bright on the phones-go figure. sigh...oh well, always appreciate your feedback :) take care-patty

Yay!! New PattyTune™!!
I dunno, I think you make too many excuses for things you perceive to be substandard that just aren't. There's nothing wrong with the staging, soundfield, or anything else for that matter, just a lovely, and earnestly warm and inviting piece... Such a lovely journey. I wish I were this free and facile with my ideas (and chops) on piano... The mix is organic and warm, very well balanced... spectrum analyzer says it's nice and even... so do my monitors :) Lovely, subtle imaging cues. The end passage evokes the dreamy Carpenters tune "Crystal Lullabye"... Great flourish at the end!

Hi Phil, I know it’s been a lil while since my last post, but I finally finished it. Yes!!!

First off thanks for all your comments and expertise-always appreciate them. About the perception thingy…well, I am getting better at making less excuses-you gotta give me that! I could of mentioned all the mistakes-like the ones at…just kidding :)

About the mix; I’m thinking the first thing I need to do is check off my wish list for a good pair of monitors (any suggestions) Like I was saying to gator, it’s a hit or miss thing with the headphones. I guess I have been lucky, but I want to be more accurate like I intended it to be for the future. I’ll check the forums and dwell there for awhile 4,450 posts yeesh!

And Neil thanks for the comments. I think I found my MoJoZu in this one :)

Thanks again guys!

Delicate and subtle
Hi Patricia.. The piano can be such an expressive instrument. Delicate and subtle one minute and drang and sturm a moment later. You have shown its delicate side in this piece and I felt the piece taking me away to a better place. Loved the "landing" at the end. Thanks. Regards, Peter.

Totoro.....
The creative transition from thought to form is delicately convincing in this piece....as I envision the dandelion's flight...

and from what I can see, Hayao Miyazaki inspired, yes? My daughters too grew up observing and inspired by all his work...favorite is My Neighbor Totoro....

Quite wonderful Ms Patty Girl....you have an exceptional gift for translating your vision to your keyboard....much in joy'd!!! ~barbara

Grateful for your comment
I'm very glad that you had stopped by for a listen and to comment. Much appreciated!

As for the Miyazaki inspiration-partly yes...his message always resonates within me when I watch his movies. Now the composer Joe Hisaishi that does most of the Studio Ghibli films including Totoro has influenced me with his work mainly on the Spirited Away soundtrack. Beautiful music!

are a bloody nuisance. Leastways, they are in my garden. But I must admit, they are very pretty, and so resilient! Maybe we should not dig them up, but let them just grow.
