Description
Err.. yes, this is just one of those back to my roots happy tunes, ya know. Dropped C. Got to hand it to those U.S metal bands like Sevendust, HED pe and Stuck Mojo for this sound. One day I will grow out of it? ha! Anyway, so the strat is down, I dusted off the Yamio and with shagged out strings I wasted a week jamming 3 riffs, then thought I would badly string them together and call it a song? I borrowed my neighbors bass which I had to sellotape the wires to the jack in order for it to work and even then it would only work whilst played at a certain angle, not really very heavy metal style if you had witnessed it. It made for playing, interesting to say the least. The misses said it was a happy departure from my "artsy farty stuff," so you can take the piss now too, if you wish.

Artsy fartsy sonic attack
A real head cruncher. I wish I had done this. The opening sequence is classic. A drop D grindfest with your trademark approach to the guitar. Great lead sound your getting there. And the lead is just the thing. I didn't know U.S. bands brought the drop D style in. And now I guess drop C is the new thing. Departure or not, this is another top addition to my tokai library.

Drop C
I meant, woops, I will amend that. it was just a work out after I showed you that vid. It's a bit rough and ready. As from which country it originated I don't know? Cheers Les and the gang.

happy roots sound awesome. That riffage at the one minute mark was brilliant. Lovely wide open ambient solo like only you can do :-). Nice synth accents throughout. Taste Sir Steve.

don't think so. no artsy fartsy stuff here either. this just kicked my ass and handed it to me. tight and intense... enjoyed thoroughly.

I wouldn't go so far as to call this "genius", but it caught me unexpectedly at all the right places and is very energetic!

Nicely
Done Steve,
Great mix and tone. The riffing is crisp and aggressive but doesn't get anywhere near that unlistenable HEAVY stuff. The lead is impressive. I dont think I've heard such a focussed solo from you. Loved it!
Your bass issue sounds SO familiar. Not only does mine buzz like a chainsaw if I move an inch while playing I also need to ensure I have thumb contact with the top string at ALL times.... If not I'll get a double buzz.
Good stuff

Brother my brother
This is some heavy skit, sweet riffs, I hear hove some vocals could fit as well, so lets hope some hard rocker singer jump on it. But its cool as is too… Cheers

Whoa!
Sammy was right! This puppy grooves like mad. Heavy is great, but when you can keep this kind of a groove going... it's awesome.

Great melodic, dissonant lead too.

Sounds more like a Melvins vibe to me. Take that as a huge compliment. I love the Melvins.

I think your misses is wrong because the artsy stuff is still in there fueling the dark riffs. It has that Spanish phrygian sound to it.Some nice lead work in there. Well done.
