Description
This is the base for a song I'm working on (Lyrics on the way).

I used this equipment: Guitar Ibanez JS100, Jazz Bass Fender and a Guitar Processor Digitech RP21D. For the recording I used only Garage Band, for the drums used EZDrummer.

For all channels used the AUMatrixReverb (also used it on the master channel), for the base used one of the presets (Fat bass amp) and for the drums used a Compressos's Drum Kit Cushion preset.

I think there is a lot of room for improving the sound, but I'm clueless where to start. I feel the drums sound is not punchy, but actually have no idea how to improve it, same with the bass and guitars.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

nice start!
I write a lot of vocals if you ever need any and/or singer. I hear what you mean in your forum post I'll go there to give you my ideas though I am only 1 year into the learning process myself. Well done!

Thank you
Jdholliday, thank you for your help. I visited your profile and definitely I would like to participate in a collab with you. I almost got the lyrics for this song, but I have many lyricless (does this word exists? :O) ideas that I'm gonna be recording soon.

noticed
you asked for some advice ...so what little I have is you can tweek the drums sometimes with a little distortion ...also ...are all tracks "stereo" ? if so maybe going "mono" so you can spread out the mix a bit... but then again in it's raw form... sounds pretty good. luck on the lyrics...will try and drop by when you get this up and running.

thanks
Yup, all tracks are mono... I'm gonna follow your advice about spliting out the mix, what values do you recommend for panning the guitar?. Also I'm intrigued about this: how do you use distortion on drums? any special indication or just playing around with the values?

hello again
...just some slight distortion can help ...some other things i have found using the AU Equalizer in GB ...adding slight bumps at 50-100hz adds bottom to the kick drum...100-250hz adds roundness... you can drop the range in the 250-800hz range a clears some "muddiness" ...1-6hz some small bumping up can add presence to cymbals ...6-8 adds cymball clarity...on the snare 100-250 hz bump up can fill out the snare sound...and the 6-8 hz range can be bumped as well for snare presence. These are just some general guidelines I have found helpful ... not arbitrary at all.

Maybe ask for drum help?
Doesn't sound bad though Rolf! Getting a vocalist will add to the mix. Bass might a little loud in comparrison. Mix is a subjective thing. Everyone wants different things. I like what you have going.

Sounds
like a good beat and has enough variation to be interesting. Good luck with this one. Thanks.
