The Way She Looks

Description
I wish we had Southern Rock or Country Rock to choose from in the genre selection this would probably fit there.
This song was inspired from the memory of a little honky-tonk that was just outside of the town I grew up in.There was always live music on weekends and bands played mostly country but it was usually loud with a rock edge to it.

I played the guitar and bass and my bud Woody co-wrote and sang the lyrics.

The Way She Looks
Really diggin' that thick guitar tone and I like the picking you do between the rhythm chords. Great voice ... I can't help hearing a touch of Bad Company in your stuff ... It sure has that Southern groove. The only thing or nit I have is I would have varied the drums up a bit otherwise a cool rockin' tune!

I know what you mean about the drums.I have a pretty nice acoustic kit in the studio and need to get my butt behind them more often...I have a cousin that drums but we only see him once or twiced a month. Thanks so much for your input.

Great sound on the guitar and great playing reminds me of some old school cali sound. Really great guitar playing and those vocals are great.

Bare bones
Yeah, sometimes there's nothing like a nice clean 3-piece band throwing down a simple groove. Personal choice would have been to play your guitar through to the end --- out big --- but what the hell. Woody sounds great and the guitar tone is just right. Good work. Really catchy.

To be honest I wish I had played the guitar on out and just faded the whole mix at the end. It's good to have other musicians help confirm these things...Really do appreciate your feedback.

The Way She Looks
I get the AC/DC, but I also hear some Bad Company in there too. I like the vocals - some soul there - and the guitar line. Mix is crisp.
My nit is the drum part plays through, could have used some variation.

This sounds like a live tune, the guitar is brilliant love the pauses in the licks, and Woodys vocal is ace

Aaaahhh the twang. That's what I remember most about that bar in the description. These guys would come in with big Fender amps and Teles and Strats and just whale away till 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. Those are the sweet sounds I was going for.Appreciate the comment.

This has a James Gang sound.
Which is a great sound to have. I'd love to get ahold of this and do some drums on it. That's the weakest part of it!

Tight in the pocket
stripped down lean and solid. As has been mentioned - a live drummer would kick this into another room. Cool track as it is though - don't get me wrong.

The Way She Looks
Gritty R 'n R, I love it. The guitar tone (and playing) was very cool, and I agree that there is something "Bad Company" in the vocals. I sure wish you would have played live drums; it would have given this song an extra kick in the pants. Thanks for posting.

"Bad company" sound, well "Free." If you don't mind my saying so. I love 3 piece band stuff and you have captured that perfect. Great stuff and great mix. Supa!!

...
The guitar riffage is super-tight. I can't play that tight, my style is pretty sloppy, so I appreciate the way you played this. All those guitar licks sound pretty good.

The vox could be a bit louder, but i think that stuff is pretty much up to preference. The drums are ok, but to static. Have you looked into EZDrummer?
