Lyrics
wipe that smile off your face
there's nothing funny here
or is your laughter born of insecure irrational fear?

wipe those tears away my dear
your sadness unbecomes you
there is no need for you to complicate things any further

you twist the knife to clinch the kill
and then you break it off
your former self is lying motionless down at your feet

it's so good to see you here
among all of your people
your smile's different now and your tears are of happiness

Cool tune and the lo-fi vibe adds to the coolness. How did you record it? What did you use for hardware? Great melody and lyrics that perfectly match the mood. I love the whistling!

cool whistling!! there's a lot more that's cool in this song, like those chord changes that go to unexpected places, the very intriguing lyrics, and the way cool lo-fi vibe. is that your voice in high harmony? great work ridd!

Low fi...high class
I enjoyed this tune more than any other I've listen too, tonight...I can hear Rickie Lee Jones singing it in my head right now... Very nice job.

You just gotta love
the simplicity of this song.

I really dig the lo-fi work you're doing. It reminds me of the Tascam 4 track I used to have back in the day. I really think that this type of production is under-rated.

Good stuff.

Oh I like this! Clean, surprising, and cool! I'm in Vancouver and in the animation business too! Let's touch base. ShadowofNine told me about you.

Damon
I, too, have been gone from MJ for a long time. Playing a little catch-up before the Fall semester starts on Monday. So a year later I get to this. I like the progression. The chords and melody (delivery, too) have a very Damon Albarn feel. I especially get that feeling on "irrational fear". Solid, dark number.
