Description
Well, this started with a ukulele riff and then kind of took off from there. I enjoyed rockin' with the uke ... added a guitar rhythm, a bass track some drums and vocals and here we go! I've played in a few bars over the years and have seen my share of broken fantasies and drooling hearts.

This is very cool. The blend of stringed instruments is great. I love that bass tone (very Paul McCartney). Great ukulele parts. This one is too good to catch just once. Downloaded!

Thanks Andrew
I really struggled with the mix on this. I started recording in March of this year and I have learned a lot from just doing it and trying to find my way using Garageband. But I have a real struggle with vocals and getting that pro sound I hear on so many posts. I enjoyed reading that most recent forum on mixing with garageband and found it very helpful. I really like warm but big big crystal clear mixes. I enjoy your mixes because they tend to be warm with everything in a perfect balance.
Cheers Andrew

I love a uke. The first thing I ever played back when I was a kid. I really struggled with getting it to sit in the mix with all the drums and electric guitar.
Thanks for listening

Thanks Sammy
I got frustrated with this tune ... mainly getting a clear vocal. I don't know if it was my range or phrasing but I just couldn't get them clear in my mix. This one was a struggle.
Thanks for listening

Infectious (of the good kind)
Infectious beat and the uke and rhythm guitar worked in really well together. Nice solid bass/drums keeping it all upbeat as well. Like your vocals on this too but IMHO they could have been a bit more prominent in the mix when you first came in. Good post! Take care, Peter.

Hey Peter
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also really like the beat and rhythm in this but I really did struggle with the vocal mix so I am glad you are honest in your comments.
Thanks again Peter!

Hard Uke!
It really is the underdog of all instruments but I think it has a beautiful sound. I have only seen the trailer so I'm going to have to get my hands on it and give it a good watch. Thanks Bud.

uke
I like the layering on this, some interesting stuff going on. Now I am going to have to put a uke on my list of things to save for. Did you record it with just a mic in front of the instrument or was it plugged into something?

uke
Ukes are like the forgotten instrument but you can get some pretty amazing sounds out of them. I just put my Sure58 in front of the sound hole and recorded one track panned left for rhythm and one panned right for leads. Thanks for checking it out.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the uke.My Grandpa and my Dad have always had a uke sitting close by their easy-chairs as long as I can remember. Also the first instrument that I played as a kid...I just love how you bring it up front and take it to the next level.

Hope there's plenty more where this came from.

Great mixture
Out of context, but it works - wouldn't have thought a uke could sit so well in this style of music, but you make it happen. Perhaps the vocal could have been up a bit, but I didn't have any trouble understanding the lyrics. Love the bass sound you get. Especially like what you're doing with the right channel uke! Great work.

Very cool tune. Well arranged with lots of interesting things going on throughout. Cool buildup in the intro that also carries on through the song. And, did you ever rock out on that uke! Good tune man - much enjoyed!

It takes off
Sure does. Don't take this as an insult, but I could imagine this being on a Buckingham/Nicks era Fleetwood Mac album. I mean that as a compliment because I like those guys. Excellent songwriting, and the performances and production are so well done. I like it a lot.

No insult here!
I never thought of Fleetwood but you are the second person to mention it and I can hear it now. I take that as a great compliment as they were always in my fav category and probably I am subconsciously influenced.
Cheers Les!

Just had to give this a second listen cos it's so good.
I think you've got your desired mix of being clear AND warm.
I would have liked your vocals just a bit more UP in the mix.
The use of drums is excellent and lets the music build up..and go down brilliantly.
Uke playing is great. I've been learning it myself but am no where near playing like you.
The sound of it comes across really well.
BTW, Iggy Pops Lust for Life was supposedly written on a Uke to start off with.
Anyway, great stuff and thanks for the download
cheers
