Description
This is from the concert for Gus...our beloved friend, and Bryans constant companion of 18 years passed VERY suddenly several months back, and we finally had an opportunity to do a show in her honor recently. Gus was an awesome support system for the band, and never missed a show. She is profoundly missed .

This is the first recording I have gotten of the NEW band, with Simon Adamsson replacing Brother Fran Bishop on drums. Simon is a young monster drummer who has been stuck playing in crappy top 40 bands forever, and seems VERY happy to be in such an adventurous band. He is a master jammer. His style fits Bryan and mine perfectly...We also have been playing with the amazing Mike Koziel on keyboards. He is on every show that the money will allow. He and I are in the process of learning and rearranging the collaborative pieces I have done with Einarus. The idea of playing Eins music live is VERY exciting.

i knew I wanted to play a slow Minor blues for gus that night, but really hadn't settled on what lyrics to sing. So when the time came to start to sing, the first verse (by john mayer, i think!) came out. The second verse however was written by me on the spot to speak my heart at the moment....I really miss Gus so much.

Anyway...here ya go...even more blues

Fran, I had no idea...
I didn't know Gus, but I knew who she was, and she really was there, front and center, at every one of your gigs that I've gone to... Usually filming, if I'm not mistaken.... What a sad thing...

This latest incarnation of the band seems very solid. Simon seems to have a lot of weight and punch in his approach, and he never gets 'busy'. I've always enjoyed hearing you guys with a keyboard guy, especially a B3 sort of sound, and Mike seems to have both tone and touch...

Plainly have to get my butt to Acton sometime soon....

Commiserations...
Hi Fran. Sorry to hear of the passing of your friend but you have posted a fitting tribute with a fantastic rendition of a fine song. You are obviously singing from the heart and your guitar playing has emotion and style to burn. Mike just tears up the B3 as well. Thanks. Loved it. Peter.

wow
that is smokey, bluesy goodness. everything sounds great. love the volume swell guitar parts before that solo at 2:30. honestly I haven't listened to any electric blues in years, but this is putting a fire under my butt. just an outstanding tune played by outstanding musicians. i like this for the same reasons I like Since I've Been Loving You by Zeppelin. all of the tasty little bits. do you improvise as you play, or is this all worked out? just curious.

I am terribly sorry about your friend. seems like as we age these things happen more often and it's never easier. incredible tribute.
