Lyrics
FUNGUS AMONG US
The politicians say it’ll be alright
Vote for me and I’ll fight the good fight
I’ve been suckered into sending a third
of my money to the nation
While there’s a fungus among us
and it’s rotting the foundation

They say don’t be a borrower or a lender
But how else can I finance my sartorial splender?
I may look terrific from my hat down to my hose
But there’s a fungus among us
and it’s nibbling on my toes

You say “Be open and tell me what you’re feeling”
I hold back because my thoughts might be too revealing
I hate to be the one to loosen up elation’s grip
But there’s a fungus among us
and it’s eroding our relationship

Heh...
Thanks for listening and commenting. This was one of those songs that I
carried around in my head for several years before one day sitting down and
finally knocking it out. Then, after listening to it, I pretty much said the same
thing as you posted it - "I kind of like it, but I'm not sure it came out the way I
intended it to be."

This is pleasantly different
I'm reminded of Loudon Wainwright III.

This is pleasantly different
When I recorded this I wasn't specifically thinking of the late great LW3, but I
will admit I have imitated him on several occasions.

This is pleasantly different
LW3 is still alive, unless something happened very recently that I don't know
about yet!

Bigger than you think
It's not just a fungus among us - it's a fungus
humongous!

Bigger than you think
Hah-ha-ha, that's funny. It's a good thing I didn't think of that, or I would've
been forced to find a way to work it into the lyrics.

Strange, dude
High marks for creativity and eccentricity. You just had to
let it out, aye? Couldn't keep it bottled up for another 10
years? Oh well.

Silly SIlly Man
Think this would be right at home on a kid's show. You
should try selling it to Public Television.

Somewhat reminded me of They Might Be Giants.

Very Funny
I really enjoyed this. The guitars remind me a little bit of some Beatles
tunes. (I mean that as a compliment) I really enjoy the Beatles. Sounds
like you had fun creating this. I agree with "ronnielong", do more!

Born in a Minnesota blizzard, I'm now residing in a coastal heat of Brooklyn, New York City. I recorded my first original composition as a teenager using a reel-to-reel tape recorder back in 1967, and I'm still finding it a creative challenge... [see more]
