Lyrics
INTO The NIGHT
by Ray Kainz

You make me wonder
You make me blue
You make me see red
as you spread your truth

you have your parties
you play your games
you say whay they want to hear
with no shame

but I see right through the wool
that you pull over their eyes
all the thoughtless faces
never question why

drink your tea put it on ice
make it all nice
shoot your gun have your fun
who pays the price?
when it's too late you'll take the bait
in the name of Christ
so party down fools and clowns
deep into the night

you make me wonder
you make me blue
you make me see red
as you spread false truth

but I see right through the wool
that you pull over their eyes
as the righteous lead the blind
all liberty dies

Spikey
Nice to hear something a bit more edgy after listening to several more poignant tracks. "Shoot your gun have your fun"!!...yes well that says a lot in itself. really enjoyed the whole lay out of this song, the sparse drums were excellent. Cheers Mark

Syncopation
Great tune (as usual) but might I suggest tightening up the vocal timings a tad? At the moment they float around the meter somewhat. You could experiment with syncopation and tighten up the delivery. I think this would really help open up the dynamic you've already started to create with the guitars and rhythm section. I am nit-picking, of course. Be cool, Pie.

No, it's not "too simple" ... it's right.
The chord progressions ("you have your parties...") are pleasant and unexpected. The song kept me quite entertained throughout. The message slips in, unobtrusively, and swats you right between the eyes.

The so-called "middle eight" that you speak of works very nice because of the way that it works with rhythm. It sounds like you've switched to a different time-signature. I think it works very well indeed. Simplicity is a great way to contrast with the rest of the piece.

The final three chords are a very good ending.

cool ray, a nice blend of costello and the clash.

the middle. simple works maybe more vocal presence at the beginning of it or additional vocal layers

The truth of night
Vic's comment "blend of costello and the clash" is spot on. If I weren't reading the lyrics, I'd never realize this was a protest song. Such much fun, partying into blindness and self-voted oppression. Truth looks different at night, compared to in the day, compared to what it looked like yesterday, to what it'll look like tomorrow.

This is not too simple. Sound is just right. But I wonder if something about the way you could sing it might better communicate the irony, the judgment, the "seeing red" indignation, while still keeping the partying into oblivion feel.

Nice track.

i don't think that section is too simple at all. flows well and I like the mellow guitar stuff that happens there. this is a cool indie pop track.

middle 8
Not quite sure what "middle 8" refers to, but I enjoyed that bridge section in 3/4 time. Unexpected and refreshing. Otherwise a good song, well recorded.

Pop Sensibilities
The whole arrangement works well. Tight everything, perfect length. Bridge is cool but perhaps lagging a bit in energy. Judging by the more serious lyric content. Perhaps there needs to be a bit more edge to the song, a bit grittier, meaner, more pissed off attitude. I'm not one to talk because I don't have a very aggressive singing voice, but a more in yer face vocals might also help to match up with the lyrics. I'm thinking of something like the energy and intensity of the Foo Fighters. But it still sounds tasty as is. Harmonies are great. . . my two cents.
