Lyrics
There Will Come A Time

shadows behind my eyes
don't want to be seen
and the noises i hear
no longer are clear

there will come a time
when you let it go
makes no difference in this world
there will come a time
when you let it go
there will come a time

i close my eyes
don't want to read those words
don't want your opinion
and i hate mine

there will come a time
when you let it go
makes no difference in this world
there will come a time
when you let it go
there will come a time

no drama please
time to end the show
no curtain call
it just wears me down

there will come a time
when you let it go
makes no difference in this world
there will come a time
when you let it go
makes no difference in this world
there will come a time
there will come a time

Ya I could sure
use that! Been up till 1 both the last two nights and then up at 6... Really need the fuzzy dreamland.

I still can't get enough of your guitars Vic... Simply such great tones! Loved this!

cool
great melody, guitar riffs and tones. guitar solo kicks ass too.
really like the arrangement and the way the different instruments interact.
part of me would have liked a little less "effected" sound on the vox, but there's really nothing to complain about.... really enjoyed the song!

thanks
funny thing about the vocals, I'm just double tracking the verses and triple tracking the choruses with some reverb, all the other effects most be in my throat. When i do get around to it I'm still going to play around with the vocal approach on this, it's not quite what i hear in my mind yet

Relic67 said 2163 days ago (September 14th, 2011)
double tracking
I think I'm just projecting my own self-dissatisfaction with my inability to get a non-double tracked vocal that I'm happy with.... how's that for a triple negative?

"Serenity Now."
Such a rich sound. I've been thinking about the fact that there are no do-overs. We are doomed to make do and the only sane thing is to want what we have and someday to let go of even that. Sigh. Thanks.

There Will Come A Time
You have an instantly recognizable sound. I always enjoy listening to the way you layer guitar parts and tones. The mixture of clean and distorted tones is very effective. I like the big slides at the end of the solo. I also like how you include material from the main vocal melody in many of those guitar parts. Excellent mix and production.

Let it go
Trademark VH sound. Your lyrics are definitely thought provoking. I know what you mean (I think). I tend to flip-flop on the matter. Anyway, another well put together piece of work from you. Guitars sound great. I really like the sound of your bass. Wow, a real bass. What a concept.

the bass has active pickups and the tone controls works differently. so it gets a wide range of tones, thanks for noticing it.

fuzzy place
man i really like this. i love the unexpected twists and turns. definitely would NOT help me sleep, i'd be up waiting to see where it goes. i dig that little repeated turnaround that starts the solo, and as always it's a tasteful, melodic, and super interesting solo (that i'll happily steal ideas from). super cool graphic too.

funny i was getting way too much treble at times, and then i switched ears with the headphones and it sounded better. I don't know if that's my ears or your song. and i'm with alec on the vocal affects. someday you've got to let us hear your regular joe voice. i think it would add some emotional immediacy to your tunes, although you're into robots and space and stuff and that fits with the distance in the vocals.

Vic Holman said 2163 days ago (September 14th, 2011)
thanks craig
i'll have to run this through some other systems to see about the treble that you're hearing, coulee a minor adjustment needed, vocal i just double tracked the verses, triple tracked the choruses, with some reverb, no special effects, must be me. now i did try singing it couple different ways... lower, delivery, etc. i think it depends on the key the music is in at times. but yeah i'm not quite sold on it

Powerful
The layers of sound you create here are impressive - I especially like the the sounds you get, and the interaction between the layers, in the solos, both in the middle and the outro. I guess if you're using a strat and an sg it's gotta be a good outcome :-) Thought-provoking lyrics. Much enjoyed!

Hi Vic. I know I say this a lot, but are you sure you are not Ray Manzarek or Robbie Kreiger just having fun with us at MJ? You could have written hit songs for The Doors without any doubt IMHO. Like the vocals and the guitar work a lot. Really strong post. Take care, Peter.
