Description
This started as an orchestration exercise and I just kept building. My trumpet is the only live instrument. Used mostly East West XP Pro Gold library and some Dimension Pro.

Hey Steve ... I enjoyed listening to this very much. You can tell when the real instrument enters but you have done a nice job of melting it together with the midi. I like the way you build it dynamically and then bring it back down into a gentle ending. Good composition.

Real vs MIDI
Thanks,
You're right, that is the hard part, blending the two together.

Hi Steve - wow, this is terrific orchestral work! E/W is certainly the gold standard - your trumpet sits in here beautifully - such a regal sound! love your use of snares and bells - you clearly have a gift for this kind of composing and i hope to hear much much more of it from you!

EastWest Gold
Thanks, magnatone. I do like EastWest, it's very flexible (too flexible?). It has dozens of parameters I never touch. Sometimes it has too much reverb for me.

Now,
what a great surprise! I thoroughly enjoyed this composition. There's something heroic about it: The beginning of a quest or the backdrop for an arduous journey. Love it. Thanks.

To New Heights
Thanks, Char. The powerful horn section gives that 'heroic' sound I like.
If I didn't play trumpet, It'd be horn.

This is an amazing piece ..I m so impressed by the use of the violin here its never easy to let the strings sound real ..your Orchestra is amazing and very professional ..the Trumpet is haunting ..I cant believe this is not a live Orch ..I have written and (tried) to play classic with my guitar and Mandolin ..no luck ...so I m so stunned here ...thanks a lot for sharing such beautiful music !!

Beautiful
There is so much going on here! The orchestration is wonderful, and the song really sets a mood and a scene. I can tell so much went into it.

Beautiful
I like the way you build the tune and introduce the different elements. I especially like the crescendo and what follows around the 2 min mark. There's a lot happening, but the trumpet line remains the focus. Gentle ending. Much enjoyed.

Quality...
Hi Steve. Lovely confident opening that sets up the entrance of the trumpet. The dynamic middle section is quality listening and you do a great job bringing things back down to round the piece out. Like the instrumentation a lot. Much enjoyed. Regards, Peter.

intriguing
Nice orchestration... good slow build, great crescendo, keeping things clear and distinct. The march coming out of the crescendo had almost a spaghetti western (Hugo Montenegro) feel (not a bad thing in my book.) Excellent trumpet work... more great music for me to study!

Spaghetti western
Spaghetti western...I didn't think of it at the time but you may be on to something. Believe me, it was unintentional. Thanks for your input.

Beautiful
Lovely music and well put together. It's obvious when the real instrument joins in as has been mentioned, but still this has been so well put together that the difference isn't jarring or painful to listen to as it can be. Great stuff.
