Lyrics
The Roots of Trolls

"Where does this plane go?", he asked the stewardess, whom looked at him in a funny way: "Trollbound", she said, "isn't that were you want to go, to the Trolls?"
"Yes indeed", he replied, "Indeed, I just want to make sure, that's all…"

Going home on an airplane, going home for a change
The Trolls will all be waiting, with their songs and their bells
Going back to the roots, without truth there are no truth
The Trolls will all be dancing, when he lands in his homeland

"So, what's the purpose of your trip?" she asked, "pleasure or business…or both?"
"I'm going home my dear, home, been away, for way too long!"
"I hope your trip will be pleasant Sir", she smiled. "it will, I am sure it will", he replied...

Going home on an airplane, going home for a change
The Trolls will all be waiting, with their songs and their bells
Going back to the roots, without truth there are no truth
The Trolls will all be dancing, when he lands in his homeland

I love this song Mikki
great backing track - but it's the vocals that really grab me. Well actually it's the whole package. The music is excellent and the changes are perfect for this groovy number. I especially like the Bridget St. John backing vox. How are you doing that?

Thanks
I am glad, especially since I've had to downgrade to my internal Mac microphone! :) The backing vox is normally loops, with various effects and/or pitches to get them where I want them, sometimes my own voice pitched up and covered up...

Very fine lyrics and music. I like the way you put everything together. And I like those mysterious trolls and the music they inspire....

Thank you
They are a metaphor I am using, anchored in Scandinavian mythology and history, but they also seem to open up more vivid landscapes in story telling as I removing myself from the subject of myself (not necessarily) and humans.

so i didn't want to like this
because well the idea of trolls seems silly, honestly. but this is cool, especially the chorus with that eurythmics-like moaning in the background, what a terrific sound. and then as i got into it i was able to ignore the specifics for the generalities of the story and i could relate to it, going home for a change, that's a great line. so anyway happily downloaded, trolls and all.

Thanks for liking
Yeah, it may seem silly, and perhaps it is, I do not mind being silly of course, but, this song, as well as many of my latest ones are circling around similar topics and subjects, are also a part of a book I am writing as well as paintings and drawings. So with that said, the song is only a part of a bigger picture. But, I am glad you managed to oversee this, and get into the song, and finally actually found something in it that spoke to you...

Trolling
The tale grows. I like the compact instrumentation on this song. It seems to be a "band" composition.

The changes into the chorus are sweet.

Thanks for the download :)

Troll
You never know what you are going to find on this great site!

The title was attention grabbing and i am glad that i followed it up.

The electronic, rather synthetic backing contrasts with the lyrics somewhat perhaps, which seem to about roots and ancient creatures, but nevertheless it is a very arresting and interesting effect.

Kudos for a cool idea and a very enjoyable song.

Cheers now

Nice meeting you!
Yeah, this site has so much to offer, and think I can say that since I've been here for years, and still are. You'll find so many experienced and novice musicians, or listeners and fans, all with intelligent thing to say, and add to the mix of comments.

Dig that bouncy synth. Really well mixed, at least it sounds great in my speakers. I like the staccato flow of your lyrics, too.

Don't like..
... the drum sound (sounds cheap ish) but everything else is simply cool. The chorus and background vocals are brilliant!

Well I tried... :)
I was intentionally going for the analog drum sound and of course, that in itself can be considered "cheap", but it's a style, right? :) I am glad you found the song pleasant otherwise!

Nice.
Enjoyed it very much. I can feel the air/pathos of Scandinavia in the song. The chorus and imagery are gonna linger inside my head for a while.
