Description
I kind of jumble it up a bit into a bunch of variations. But Bocelli made it famous.

Leo Kotke does Italian Opera...
Okay, I realize that this is not Italian opera — it's a song made famous by Andrea Bocelli — but it sounds completely like it belongs in an Italian opera, and your creative arrangement reminds me of the great Leo Kotke. But of course it is really the great Bill Furner, whose skill and generosity shine through in everything you play.

Here's more info than anyone probably wants to know on this song, from Wikipedia:

"Con te partirò" (literally meaning "With you I will leave") is an Italian Classical crossover song written by Francesco Sartori (music) and Lucio Quarantotto (lyrics). It was first sung by Andrea Bocelli at the 1995 Sanremo Festival and recorded on his album of the same year, Bocelli. The single was first released as an A-side single with "Vivere" in 1995, topping the charts, first in France, where it became one of the best selling singles of all time, and then in Belgium, breaking the all-time record sales there.

A second version of the song, sung partly in English, released as "Time to Say Goodbye", paired Bocelli with English soprano Sarah Brightman, and achieved even greater success, topping charts all across Europe, including Germany, where it became the biggest-selling single in history. That version alone has now sold more than 12 million copies worldwide.

Bocelli also recorded a completely Spanish version of the song, titled "Por ti volaré". The song, under all three versions, is considered Bocelli's signature song.

Thanks for
all the incredible info. I have to say the scholar of mj. It is a challenge to make bring out the open tunings in such an incredible piece as this. But the acoustic guitar with the help of such great musicians like you say Leo, Tommy Emmanuel have done wonders in the advancement of the instrument. It seems like it's powers are geared toward open tunings. This one is a D open tuning. which is really a great open tuning for Lloyd Webber type of things.

Again, thanks for the info CC!

What I really like...
Is when a 'version' or an arrangement doesn't sound like a version or arrangement...it doesn't sound like an experiment or a reference to something... It sounds whole and complete in and of itself...

That's what you've got here, Bill... Another good one...

Delightful!
The open tuning gives a resonance to the sound. Your playing is clean and expressive. I love the lilting phrases that you play and the variety in your attack on the guitar - lovely light and shade. Nice harmonics to finish it off. Thanks for the download!

As always
you've produced something really classy and enjoyable Bill. This is just such a beautiful tune and you've played it so sympathetically. I often wonder how you remember your arrangements - do you read them or just memorise all the notes? Fantastic playing which just rolls along and takes me away.
As always!
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Neil, I try to get a general
understanding of it and then throw in my style that I've applied to my varying tunes that is in this case.

Thanks for being so kind, god bless! I try to be as original as I can. There is a certain style of thing that I've accumulated through D tuning, then mix them up and try to maintain a melody as much as I can.

Heart of an Italian
The sound of those strings under your fingers is magic. Thanks for sharing this.

Some timing spots kind of add hiccups. My wife loves Bocelli's version. I like this one better.
