I think you're synth is breaking (word association challenge)

Description
this song tries to duplicate the experience of being onstage and having technical difficulties. everything's going pretty well overall, but that one guy in the bands gear is malfunctioning again. everyone keeps looking over at him hoping he'll get it together and you just soldier on.

the first time I ever played on a really big stage, I couldn't hear anything. but I could tell something was weird. we got to a silent moment in one song and my bass player was giving me the hairy eyeball; the one that says "what the hell are you doing?" then she realized that her fuzz pedal was on and howling. she quickly turned it off, gave me an apologetic smile and started singing her harmony. I can only imagine what it sounded like in the audience.

the idea came when I was trying to do some fancy routing to make a pretty sound, and this weird noise came flying out of the speakers. experiment in routing was a failure, but I liked the vibe. Better concept than the break up song I had written.

Tortoises
with hairy eyeballs are making their way to your door and mine, too. This song is arousing them. I could hear a vocal over this. Nice, laid back groove. (Does anyone talk like that?) Thanks.

Breaking
LOL! The very same fuzz pedal incident has happend to me too! It was on, screeching away during 3, 4 songs at my first (and last) live concert. We didn't really realize until we saw the video take!

This is way cool! I started a song for this challenge with a somewhat similar idea (but the whole song would sort of dissolve), but realized pretty soon I wouldn't have time to finish it.

Great back story! We've all been there! Why are those the gigs that stand out in our minds? Very original idea well executed.

Mrrrrrrrrrrrp... beep blip.
I think by now we all know I love glitchy, gleepy, gloopy, goodness. I got say, I like the tone of the music itself, and the broken aspect is actually quite integrated. Making dissonance palatable isn't easy, well done.

synth breaking
lol - well the only awful breakdown that ever happened to me on a stage was the lid stick collapsed on the grand piano and the lid came CRASHING down causing me to leap off the bench. ANYWAY - as you know, i love your shoegazer stuff and this backstory really rounded things out for me. was kinda hoping for your voice to show up - how about v2?

Breaking
Love the space in this and how it takes its time to develop. I dig the dissonant textures against the mellow lo-fi groove. Very artfully put together.

You just described
the secret ingredient in every Airport Seven show. We've been cultivating that quizzical artifact - or perhaps I should say we have been unsuccessful in avoiding it - since day one. I love the piece Michael and the concept behind it. But honestly - I don't hear anything out of place - I think the song sounds great.

Synth when
have machines cooperated? Especially live. Nice tune, and the broken part is integrated so you're never quite sure it wasn't intentional. But of course it was... wasn't it? Fun!

For me the breaky glitchy parts are really well integrated into the composition. So well that I didn't notice anything wrong. Would easily support a vocal.

No difficulties
in producing a great mellow song: I too was expecting some major feedback or crackling or buzz or hum .. you can't beat a classic dodgy cable if you ask me... or a string break.

everybody has a story like that
i kept waiting for the weird sound but could never hear it. Which is probably a credit to the songwriting - i expect the unexpected sound from you. this is cool as an instrumental, it has some really subtle mood variations, but i too kept hearing the vocals come in.

Me likey
the "mistake" is so subtle and fitting, it's the kind of thing that makes me think, "Oh yeah, I CAN do stuff like that". Opens doors. Pretty little melody stepping around this.

Your story reminds me of when I played a show with a noisy amp. I'd have to turn the volume down in-between songs or everyone would get this shrill static sound. So after the song is done I go to turn down my guitar and realize I never turned it up after the initial song.
