Description
the music i actually created 6 or 7 months ago. it is in the styling of J.H.'s last year of recording. i let it sit because i can't really sing like J.H. the challenge came up and i thought what the heck i'll dust of the track and try something with it.

for the lyrics, years ago i was driving through a seedier part of downtown. Two gals came barreling out of a bar and really went at it in the middle of the street. these days that area is renovated and more upscale. so i based the lyrics on that cat fight.

Lyrics
dangerous woman breaking you

she knows danger like the edge of a knife
she will cut you down with asingle slice
there is a fine line between naughty or nice
ya you know what i'm talking about
yeah she's a

dangerous woman - breaking breaking you-
she will be
breaking all the rules dangerous woman
you're all the rage baby

we know missy she likes to play with sharp glass
i can tell you she's a pain in the ass
tattoos and piercings and balls made of brass
too many cat calls taking it to the street
talons and switchblades out to draw blood
sideline peanut gallery egging them on

dangerous woman - breaking breaking you-
she will be
breaking all the rules dangerous woman
you're so full of rage

easy on the eyes it's just a disguise
you can be fooled when she lets you inside
but in the end she will take you for a ride
she will be breaking you from the inside
what can i say

dangerous woman - breaking breaking you-
she will be
breaking all the rules dangerous woman

Wow
The guitars in this track is truly amazing, both the playing and sound-wise (what's your secret, voodoo magic?). Fantastic riffs and melodies keeps me plaing this on repeat. And what a nice sounding mix! (I like the drummer too, even when he seem to stumble at 3:06 ;)

it's all in the fingers as i figure it. yeah the stumble drum bit. i played the drums on the keyboard, i thought about fixing it, but then i thought the collapse was kind of interesting on the recovery. i appreciate the listen

Vic, you are coming out with some great songs. Love the Jimmy style riffs and the syncopated vocals. The bass and drums are retro gems as well. Congrats. Regards, Peter.

the vocal phrasing took some getting use to. jimi had a slightly odd delivery one certain songs. so i tried for what it was worth to try to emulate that.

Rocking. Since it's a JH tribute, I couldn't help noticing the few times you strayed from the formula and the VH sound crept in. Haha. Well, so much the better. Guitar sound --- yes. Doing that asymmetric timing thing again. I know I say that every time, but I really like it. It adds a unique twist. Wild.

This
is great Vic, really love this, you've certainly captured the Hendrix vibe. It's great to hear you play in a different style too, wonderful solos with a great tone and playing. Did you play the famous E7#9 chord in this song? I think this is one of your very best, more please!

you sure fasteddie didn't tell you this story?
dude, musically, this is out of sight. i love the hendrix thing. but what I really like about it is how it's not derivative, it sounds like YOU inspired by hendrix, and it leaves the influence behind. cool stuff. this week i was listening to a lot of the london suede and it occurred to me that they remind me of you. love the end, it's sweet, sweet.

Well, yes....
This does have the merest twinge of Hendrix to it...by way of the songs/sounds that first came out on Rainbow Bridge and The Cry Of Love...AND it also has that phased rhythmic thing that Robin Trower channeled into 'Too Rolling Stoned'...Seems to call out a bit of Hendrix phrasing in your vocal approach, too...

I really like this sort of rhythm guitar, and I think you've done it right, being right in sync with the drums, without excess or excessive strumplets cluttering things up...I like the lead tone, too...

On my listening setup I'd have the same tiny crit that I would have for Mr. Hendrix, himself, and which is one area where I preferred the Trower approach, which is to have just a bit more oomph and round punch in the bass and in the bass drum that locks in with it... A little more stuff on the bottom end to balance the treble of the guitar...

Really great track...
Vic Holman said 2188 days ago (October 22nd, 2011)
thanks ed
i agree with all said. rainbow bridge was a pretty amazing album to me when it first came out..... i still have it with the pops and crackles due to much playing.

seems to me i have a trower ripoff tune that i did 4 years ago, never posted. i did see him live in a small club back in '84.........awesome!

i appreciate the listen

Dang! Bro!
Love This!!!! But QUIT HANGING OUT WITH THE EGOTISTICAL GROUPIES AT THE STAGE DOOR!!! You get what you pay for ~ axiom Look for the woman, nicely dressed, who enjoys your music during your sets, but brings a book (one of the classics ~ like, "Sometimes A Great Notion", to read during the breaks ~ she's sitting alone, because she wants a real man like you ~ not some freakin' bar fly. That's the woman who wants to know if you're REAL as the lyrics you write. Luv CJ
