Description
The first verse here came to me almost instantly one afternoon recently. I was thinking about how fear of one thing or another keeps most of us from progressing in one way or another. I ran in the house to write it down and the second and third verses came almost as quickly. Then, I thought: where the hell did that come from? I assume it was inspired by my earlier thoughts because I don't happen to have most of those particular phobias ;-)

Then, I remembered a misfit piece of dub I'd made a few months ago that was missing something, like a vocal track. So here we are. Something dark for Hallowe'en. Enjoy kiddies, bwahahaha.

PS: The dark alley image is by Hideyoshi from deviantart.com.

Lyrics
Fear is the overriding factor
Fear that you will never be a man
Fear that you are different from the others
Fear that you're not doing all you can

Fear of all the strangers who surround you
Fear of new ideas that come your way
Fear that you will never make the grade
especially on that fateful Judgement Day

Fear that you will fail your family
Fear your powder won't be dry
Fear that you won't find direction
Fear that you will never even try

Fear of turning down a new road
Fear of who or what you'll maybe find
Fear that you're a total failure
Fear is ever-present in your mind

From
Wikipedia: Bill Tancer analyzed the most frequent online search queries that involved the phrase, "fear of...". This follows the assumption that people tend to seek information on the issues that concern them the most. His top ten list of fears consisted of flying, heights, clowns, intimacy, death, rejection, people, snakes, success, and driving. I don't think that was in any particular order. But those things are always in our minds. Very effective. Serendipitous for you to have the music. Love the beat. Thanks.

Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode
about the fear of public speaking being the number one fear. Which meant that eulogists often wished they were the one in the box.
You're welcome.

faux-be-us
great choice of artwork, depressingly gritty. The music is rich (pun intended) and strangely alluring, with a good dose of spine-chilling drama. Well produced and well-read.

Creepy in a good way
Nice dub background - I like the vocal effects. What did you use for the background sounds?
Check out my latest song called Parabola
richard13 said 2009 days ago (October 28th, 2011)
Of course, of course
The dub background was created in an iPod app called GrooveMaker Reggae, but I didn't have enough control in GrooveMaker (ie: I couldn't change my mind as easily ;-) so I imported all the sounds individually into GargageBand and went from there. The vocals were effected mainly to disguise my normal, less-serious-sounding voice. Thanks for asking.

Spookily sinister
and quite a menacing tone to this .....hey, a guy says to his friend that he is suffering from haphephobia, his friend replies ...well haphephobia is better than none !! (You have to say it out loud to get it to sound better)Tracks finished ....cool job it is on again I really do like the menace in the opening bars ....thudding mono tone of that drum beat with the creepy jingles jangles and that theme on the keyboard..,.cobwebby and sinister...

Cheers

The way people behave is certainly spooky
but I'm not sure that can ALL be blamed on phobias. I'm also not sure if the Oblivion 'Dungeon" folder is a good thing, but go crazy ;-)

LOL!!!
it's an RPG game for PC. it has an mp3 folder for music in case you want to hear something besides the vanilla music that comes with the game. categories:adventuring music, town music, dungeons, fighting, etc. This song fit the dungeons for me. so you'll be part of my gaming experience. lucky you.
i do this with quite a few instrumentals i've downloaded here. i've just never mentioned it until now. ShadowOfNine just about dominates many of them, among others...

Funny story
and so true how fear can take over one's progression in life. Your track defintely creates that vibe. I know I'M SCARED and I certainly don't want to enter that alley.

I love this...creepy and spooky, and all together ooky.
richard13 said 2009 days ago (October 28th, 2011)
Oh boy: new word!
"ooky" is that like icky without being sticky?
