Description
I often act without regard to consequences as this post demonstrates

in 1984 I sideswiped a woman's car on the way to college. the police said it was my fault so I absconded with great alacrity to oildale and suckered a friend of a friend into letting me take his spare bedroom rent free. I dropped out of college yet another time and took a job in a pizza restaurant. anyway this guy and I did not see eye to eye on virtually anything and one thing he did was drink a glass of wine every night after his electrician gig and then he would pass out on the couch leaving me with no way to watch his color cable tv.

so I wrote this song back then inspired by him passing out on the couch after his glass of cheap rose wine. um there were other inspirations going on at the time as well. hence the lyrical effluvience. if you don't get it don't worry neither do I.

this version came out no ways like I planned and sounds nothing like I envisioned. if you can see sound. oh yeah now I remember synesthesia.

that guy soon enough sold his truck bought a 1964 galaxie wagon and drove across the country to be near his dad, he being an electrician found another job before he moved. he took his tv with him which upset me. oh well. I told our mutual friends I had stabbed him to death with an ice pick and run him down the disposal. crazy mad days. the funny thing was he hadn't really told anyone he was leaving and it was rather abrupt and those mutual friends weren't sure if I was lying or not ;-) I never told them for reals either. fun times.

the poor guy wrote me shortly after he arrived back east I never wrote him back. he has this song now perhaps as my way of making amends 27 years later. for the record I don't have a murderous bone in my body and I did begin paying rent.

oh and, happy halloween.

Lyrics
rainbow

oftentimes I've been ripped up and down twice skipped
part of me was in there
never more a cough quiet rainbow riding son and his gunshot marshmallow
part of me was in there

jay leaf twig bird no exclaim said arrow condor rip saw blade scare rip
scarecrow tail upset no retarded bird dog wort condemn
long lost log cabin fever blistered out like bristling rainbow

rose colored wine glasses glimpse a view of paper
rose colored wine glasses dip imbibe so glib

thinking life like reflected from a waterdrop sideways hung on a spherelike doorway
part of me was in there
tangled clouds danglin listless see for miles my occasional loadline less a spider micron thinkin you're thereabouts put your time in like doin it an age old youth I don't wanna mess with flick
part of me was in there

happy halloween ;-) recorded in late august -- need to thank my brother for the guitar center gift card I got that hellbaby wah with it. I didn't like the recording and shelved it. I guess it's growing on me I like it better now. either that or I'm freaking out. probably the latter.

You are a
mad genius, you know. I had an almost waking dream several years ago. It was pretty hallucinatory. For days afterwards I had to convince myself that I did not murder some man and bury him behind my Dad's garage. I did that without ever drinking or doing drugs. I have such realistic dreams that I'm sure my memories of my past are full of fantasies. It can be confusing. You captured that kind of uncertainty with this. Thanks.

Stream of conciousness lyrics are cool. No punches are pulled. Music pulls me back to the early 70's. Thanks for saving me money on my next LSD trip :)

What to make of this? The mad scientist (and herb grower) of MJ strikes again. Psychedelic music at its most mind altered. Enjoyed, as always, Eddie. Take care, Peter.

Well...
This would have made a nice soundtrack for an extended version of *This is your brain on drugs* TV ad. LOL!

From the start, I had a nagging sense of aural déjà vu. Before the closing instrumental went off the deep end of the deep end, I happened to remember what your tune's progression reminded me of — Jethro Tull's Aqualung.

All in all, this was a curious trip down the rabbit hole. I'm glad I was wearing a parachute. ;)

Part of me
It seems that most songs we try to create from an idea refuse to turn out the way we imagine them. Because you let it go where it wanted to go, instead of forcing it down a preconceived path, that's probably why this inspired piece sounds refreshingly unconventional.

Well - that - and those jibber-jabber lyrics : )

There are times when we simply want to present the past as an approximation - delivering up truth as something soft and fuzzy, rather than sharp-focused and brittle. Perhaps it's an aging process - that memories erode and lose their edge - and all we can note is that some "part of me was in there."

And sometimes the voice simply functions as another instrument. If so, here the psychic jumbo and tumble of words adroitly adds cadence to the wall of sound.

I like the title "Rose colored wine glasses." It would make a nice word play for Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune.
