Looking at the surface of Mars through the walls of a Crystal Ship (MJ Spacerace 2011)

Description
The mystery beckons.

The Prophet stares at the small dot that is the blue world. What wonders does it hold?

He mounts his beast and they move across the rust colored sand toward the distant mountains. In the night sky, he sees a crystal ship descend.

(Spoken) The Cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be. Our feeblest contemplations of the Cosmos stir us — there is a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation of a distant memory, as if we were falling from a great height. We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries.

I reach my hands up
to the sky

Crystals form
around my body

I slowly rise up
from this Earth

moving, moving
through the void

The prophet rides
across the desert

The Sands of Mars
stretch out ahead

Longs for an ear
to hear his story

Longs for his place
among the stars

This crystal ship
melts to the surface

Becomes a mountain
rising to the sun

A formless shape
moves from my body

Touching the sand
Of this new world

The prophet rides
across the mountain

The Sands of Mars
stretch out ahead

Longs for an ear
to hear his story

Longs for his place
among the stars

Brand new world
looms below me

I spread my arms
glide through the air

I touch the ground
crystals vibrate

I reach my hands
to a brand new sky

(Spoken) We embarked on our journey to the stars with a question, first framed in the childhood of our species, and in each generation asked anew, with undiminished wonder: What are the stars? Exploration is in our nature. We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the stars.

*Spoken sections are quotes by Carl Sagan from the series Cosmos.

if the first song was the appetizer, this is the full course. big dynamic sound in open space. didn't expect the vocals, so that was a cool surprise. love the change up ~2:45.

Gosh
Wow, listening to the tracks in this challenge is really fun. While being comfortably sedated from an earlier ambient track, I was abruptly awaken by this roller coaster. Thanks!

And I fell in love with those strings too!

Vibrations
Voice. Air. Molecules. Particles from the visible to the invisible. Constructed. Manipulated. Rhythmic. Melodic.

Any pleasure they provide to others brings pleasure to me.

Nice change-up
from the rest of the entries: provides a good contrast. Honestly, I'm not crazy about the vocals in the middle section but the music and effects elsewhere are marvelous. Thanks.

space is full of hard rocks
and this is no exception. the sung story-line in the middle, if you don't mind a vague comparison, reminds me somewhat of "Vengeance - the pact" by blue öyster cult, featured in the ancient movie "heavy metal." A fun ride between gentle slopes of music, harboring death and metal, leading to a temporal tantrum of chaos.

Order and Chaos
The calm cannot exist without the storm.

Atoms form and decay in the hearts of stars and spill out through the heavens to become everything known and unknown. We are their coalescence, born of the turmoil of the Cosmos.

That tumultuous beginning flows through us and becomes a part of all we are. It brings us life and death and all that we experience.

Appreciation for being swept up in my chaos and calm.

Very creative.
You made something that paints a picture. An animated film using this as a soundtrack would be super. Enjoyed the trip. Thanks.

90s vibe
The heavier sections remind me of Eat Static, if you know 'em. Space Trance. All good stuff!

Past. Present. Future.
All exist now. They come together to return us to a place we've never been.

Saganistic
Very enjoyable piece. That Carl Sagan sure knew how to inject us with optimism. Always liked him. Cool changeups throughout this piece of sci-fi electronica. Well done.

High energy trip thru the comos
I love the anticipation for launch with synthetic voice, nice touch for the intro.

Then to be swept away with a pulsating beat that creates a linear motion was really cool. Almost trance like. The breaks are what I like most with the Sagan quotes to a smooth sounding chords. maj 7ths?

Thanks for sharing this piece, enjoyed it :)

I was watching
the first episodes of Cosmos a few days ago (for inspiration I guess, alas nothing musically happened) and so I recognized the lyrics. Cool composition if not altogether in "my style". The song art is super cool too. Thanks for the download.

Take care,
Henke

Thanks and Apologies
Life
and all its complexities
have kept me entangled
entwined by tendrils ungiving

My appreciation to all
for their listening to my humble work
My appreciation to all
whose music I have heard

No lack of drive here. Cool interplay between the lyrics the VOX from Sagan's quotes, and the strong backing track. I love the imagery.

Cool.
