Robot Done Got No Soul

Robots are precision instruments right? What happens when one needs a 50 000 mile service (80 000 Kilometre) and they are playing in a band and the band is somewhere at the other side of the Milky Way? Will their circuitry waver and their meticulous tuning falter?

This is the imaginary robot band playing when in need of a service. I'm not taking this too seriously. I hope you don't to. Ha ha.

Good to hear that you can have some serious fun with your music toys ;-) I like the subtle changes, but I also got the idea to gradually speed it all up until the poor robots cracked altogether... Enjoyed as is too, though.

Thanks for sharing and take care,

Hi Henke.....
The speeding up could happen. If the robots have been burning the candle at both ends they may be in worse shape than I can imagine. Wrong notes, percussion out of step, tuning difficulties, and each tune being finished quicker than the last one, or was the the first one, who knows.....

Oh my God!!!

Take care.

Aha you use Reaper 64bit, I've heard of that app but now I come to check it out. We are the robots and we need some nice toys to have fun with, nice work as always, paul.

Take care

Hi Kenta.....
Reaper is how I put everything together once I work out how something is going to sound (using Energy XT2 and Cantabile Pro). I love working with this DAW.

Take care.

Serious or not
I think this is a fine and very interesting dark electronica. I think the melody and sound (in its original harmonized form) is great and the whole track got a nice atmosphere. I like your more melodious explorations. I can hear this going in another direction too, expanded with drums for example and with added harmonies.

The track I'm currently working on is about robots too :)

Hi aRcTip.....
I'm glad to hear that you're working on a robit-themed mix.

You are correct. This piece could go in a number of directions. I may do something with it but most likely I'll move on to something else. I've completed the tracks for my second net label album, so that will be available 'in the future'.

Looking forward to hearing your next piece of music.

Take care.

This is more "We were the robots"!

What an odd tune. Quirky, great voices. This could go anywhere, but for sure, it should go somewhere. Some long, dark pads and industrial percussion would work very well I think.

Hi Dave......
As 10cc would sing 'It's just a silly phase I'm going through'. Not really. It's just the start of my Para-accoustic Experimentalism Phase. The next mix is wierd in it's own right too!! I've just heard it and all I can say is 'It's different'.

I don't know about adding stuff to this. Your ideas sound great but I'm following my creativity and I've moved on already. Mabe something else will come of this over Chrimbo.

This mix had two Zebras and an Omnisphere.

Take care.

Nice breakdown!
And a fun experiment, to be taken at least somewhat seriously ;-)
No seriously, it not only conveys your description well but it still an enjoyable listen. You could have gotten all dissonant or otherwierd but you were subtle. Good one.

Hi Richard......
You are correct. This mix could have gone anywhere so I nailed one take above any other and went with what I had and this is the outcome.

This seems an experimental phase I'm going through. The second track is already for upload. Wierd in a different way.

Take care.

Hi Karen......
I'm blushing right back to my ever thinning hairline. Thank you for the very, very nice thought.

My threshold for what should never be heard is a good deal higher than most people. That's my excuse. Haha. Unfortunately there's more to come in this abstract left-handed way of mixing para-accoustic recycle bin candidates. Ho hum.

Take care.

Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
