Lyrics
You're a dream
in the land of ordinary things

This world won't go away
Days turn into a blur
You're out there waiting
In a land of ordinary things

Can't stand to face the day
Colour slowly fades
Step into a dream
In a land of ordinary things

Waiting
For something to change
Hoping
For another way
Dreaming
Of a different day

In a land of ordinary things

Waiting
For this day to end
Hoping
Colour comes again
Dreaming
Of a way to end

This land of ordinary things

Dreaming
Waiting
Hoping
This land of ordinary things
This land of ordinary things

powerful gothica
powerful theme, powerful undercurrent of orchestration, powerful coloring with lyrics.

To help clarify your singing in the recording, I might suggest that your harmony parts (that tend to stomp on the main lines, for example "Waiting/For something to change...") perhaps be panned more off to the side while leaving the main lead in the middle, and boosting the lead singing volume a bit.

Very cool stuff.

Many Thanks

Well said....
Found it was a long intro though, never the less well said...
The depth in witch ordinary things go, goes much deeper then most
of this generation will ever comprehend....
They think all this stuff is new, well it's not our brains are more of a
computer then this thing is, nothing new has really been invented for
many, many centuries...
They've just modified things and called it something else, take a walk
through history as far back as you want to go and you'll see...
That in fact it's all BS...They are scrambling now to come up with some
thing old they can call new, to jump start the machine again....

So you are right, it's nothing more then ordinary things.....

Ordinary Extra
If I were one to quote the Bible, I would say: What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

But I am not. I would more likely quote Battlestar Galactica and say: All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.

We can despair or revel in this.
But we can also dream...

Ordinary
Great concept. The actions of living are often routine. What keeps it interesting is the world in our heads, which if you look in the right places of that world, is full of wonder. I know what you mean though. Long introspective build-up followed by the pulse, where it comes to a focus. The vocal section is the highlight, and the long build, coupled with the second half, makes for a unique arrangement. Excellent lyrics. The vocal track could come up a bit, because there's a dark quality to your delivery that could be emphasized. A minor point. Much impressed.

Sequence
Everything comes in its own time
and makes its own mark in this world.
To find our place
we must let the world unfold around us
at its own pace.

A nice journey
As we build a world superstructure (automatons preparing for destruction) where all things unique are erased. Truly we live in a land of ordinary things.

The orchestral beginning is very dramatic and epic sounding. I liked it when the piece transitioned into a driving synth bass, for me it's like focusing our minds on the true state we are really in.

Well done and thought provoking. Thanks for sharing this piece.

Evolving Journey
Originality breeds conformity.
Conformity breeds dreams
Dreams harden under pressure
like diamonds
until they are one day brought into the light of day
when their light will once again cast away the shadows

Another cool piece
in this expressive series of yours. If it were not electropop you might almost call it progressive, with the story you build and using various genres as building materials. (What would a house, or a cathedral, be without its windows and doors - just a couple of rather useless brick walls...)

Here's to some colorful dreams in our black and white lives!

Thanks and take care,
Henke

Bricks
Everything comes down to the fundamental
Components pieced together just so
A brick can make a cathedral
or a prison
But who is to say which is which

Conceptual artistry
Just love that long classical intro! Then the unexpected (well it would have been if it weren't labeled Electropop!) twist into 1980's synthland. Nicely thought-out ending too.

Where the Path Leads
I follow the music
and it tells me what to say

And the music and I are both grateful
for every ear that hears

Wow!
I've enjoyed a lot of your work here lately, but this really blew my socks off!! Beautifully done and I liked the whole set here. I feel the vocals, as they sound here, augment perfectly with the score and the mood; however, if you'd like to bring you vocals up, here is a trick I use: Record your vocal and then copy and paste that to another track. Add post production effects as you normally would--like here for instance) on the first track, but keep the second copied vocal track fairly raw (I use compression on that one and that's all). Play around with the volume levels for both--usually I set the "unsweetened" track way down there in volume, but it definitely gives the vocal more presence in the final mix. Just an idea! Keep up the great work! Michael

Up from the growl
I like the thumping bass the creates the rhythm when you vocals come in. Nice drive. May be low in your range, gives it an animal sense. Kind of interesting. Epic concept.
