Description
Just a little ditty in case anyone thought the whole metal genre jump was permanent. Fuzzy guitars, vox through the guitar amp and some indie stylings all played on the LP in open E.

Great hook filled rocking tune in the Cheap Trick tradition! Probably your tightest post to date. The mix and production are damn good too!

Cheap Trick
.. . I think the tightest thing about this was my jeans when I sang the chorus. Cheers muchly.

Metal
... metal corrodes, indie just gets damp and smelly. I'm planning more metal but I seem to have to work at it. This stuff just flows.

Cool tune!
Got the power pop vibe moving nicely! I think I could stand to hear more "arse" in the drums, more bottom end on them and higher in the mix, it'd punch harder, but the hook is good, and the tune has a lot of focused energy... Thanks for the post!

Drums
.. I shall kick my drummer up the arse on your behalf. He is, however, an Android and may vaporise me. If I'm not here next week it's your fault.

Cheap trick ..
I have to confess to using the phrase "like cheap trick" without being consciously aware of any of their songs (except perhaps one on the Top Gun soundtrack?). They never rally made an impact in the UK and I would most certainly have preferred Big Star or Let's Active anyway. Thanks for stopping by.

Les Paul eh? sounds great!
Enjoyed the hard rocking melodicism as usual.
Nice guitar solo! Now is that tremolo picking Surf or Metal? or both, or neither? :)

Les Paul
indeed the LP (it's an Epiphone not a Gibson) is my indie guitar, all strung up at open E and with bags of fuzz. I've always loved that hard fuzz rock with melody behind and slightly too low in the mix vox. Surf or metal? Who cares if it's fun?

Nice thick meaty guitar tone. This rocks. Catchy melodic tune. So let me get this right ... vox thru the amp? Is that what I am hearing at 1:40? Excellent!

Vox
... yeah at 1:40 that's vox through my guitar amp with a little compression EQ and distortion, mic'd into Logic and then compressed a little more in post. Sounds great eh!

ez-e
that chorus is drunken cheap trick, i dig it. your guitar tone is great, nice warm fuzz. that break at 3:24 is all 80's, like all of your songs it reminded me right away of playing live back in the day. have to admit this stuff is more fun to listen to than metal, but I still think you were on to something.

Apparently ..
I'm not allowed to do any more metal until I've learned some weird metal scales over the holidays. Dr. Hillbilly prescribed it. Do you know him? ;-)

I grew up in the 70's and 80's in the south of the UK in an Irish family. I had always loved music but was never given an opportunity to explore making it for myself. About 10 years ago I bought an acoustic guitar and began strumming in earnest. To d... [see more]
