Description
Not a Christmas tune but more of a gift for those who like dub tunes or those who might be a little weary of "holiday" music.

GrooveMaker Series

GrooveMaker is an iOS app which allows you to arrange a variety of samples (loops) in a variety of ways, usually within a genre. After trying the free version I sprang for the Reggae, mon, and finally got a chance to put it through its paces earlier this year while I was away from the computer.

Like many of these apps, they are somewhat limited and limiting. I put together a dozen or so tracks using the app but I treated them as sketches for something better. Several I thought might benefit from further work so I imported the relevant samples into Garageband, remixed, added effects, delay, EQ, etc. Just before Halloween this year I posted Omniphobia, which has a backer made with GrooveMaker. And a few weeks ago I posted Summer Nocturne (feat/awigze) which has some tasty sax additions by Andy Wigzell.

*****

"Searchin'", consists of a hip hop bass, 3 drum tracks, some choir, several synths and pads, some brass and a woodwind.

The image is a lithograph of the Greek philosopher Diogenes, looking for an honest man (or the true meaning of Christmas). The print is by William Gropper

Groovemaker Richard
We like this! Can we play this in our elevator lobby at Evil Genius Tower. In the elevators themselves we play loud clunking sounds so our employees will take the stairs, But this song would go good in the lobby... can we can we?

Thank you Mr G: you are more than welcome to play this in the lobby or anywhere else at the Tower. If I ever find out where the Tower is located (Candyland is not good enough), I'll be able to hear it when I come for lunch.

Do you
think Diogenes stepped lively to a tune such as this while he was about his quest? I really like it. What a treat! Thanks.

I think he was so discouraged by this point that he sat this one out. He may have tapped his staff to the beat though ;-)

Great groove and some very nice melodic ideas. A ton of cool sounds starting with that thick bass. Some of these iOS apps are amazing.

You've certainly found something here! I find the process you've gone through a fascinating one - plenty of patience and technical skill, but at the heart of it a cool piece of music. Enjoyable listening!

In the groove
Wicked backbeat, cool voices. I would really dub this up! Loads of reverb, regen, echo and general dubby FX on the various voices and percussion at intervals. Perfect to do this as there's loads of space within. You could also place some vocal snippets in there too, and echo them. Slow it down a bit first. I think this is more reggae than dub really, as it is, but that's just nit-picking. It's great, done on an iOS app too! Begging for some more work, I would say. Dub it up!
