Experimental all the way. I was feeling reflective like always this time of year. But not actaully feeling that inspired to write a song I sat down anyway and would lay a track, delete it, lay a track delete it until something stuck. Then I remembered I had some unpublished drum tracks from Scofugate and went from there... grabbing sounds from iphone memos, Found_Sounds here on Macjams etc. As I was perusing the library I saw a file that I thought was deleted. It was Patrick's birthday party that his wife threw for close friends and family. Harold got in my truck and we headed for Greenville. I had my iphone that I was only going to record everyone singing, 'Happy Birthday' - oops copyrighted material... dang it... k, sorry. Afterwords, I put the phone in my pocket and forgot to turn it off. An hour later it was still recording and there was a surprise visit from some celestial debris. At any rate... the song stopped being so much about nostalgia and it became an acknowledgment of a friend that ended up having a pretty good year.
