Lyrics
I’m picking dead flowers in the promise land
I’m moving along just as fast as I can
An old home movie plays in my head
I look into their eyes
It is me I see instead

I’m singing a song my father wrote
He passed it alone with his old army coat

I creep a little closer
And the land just falls away
The thought of crossing over
Takes my breath away

Can we dream and still go deeper
With the ashes and the dust

Bare trees appearing to be dead
How much does this planet weigh?
You pass right through me one more time
You pass right through me one more time

My lips are chapped
My thoughts repeat
This road is long
This road is gone
I ly down in the tall grass
Just like I knew I would
I think these are trying times

Sing a little song
Sing a little song for me
I keep on walking
I keep on talking

The stars are shining in the sky so bright
Just like you said they would

Birds occupy the sky
And my eyes fill with water
Absolutely nothing to say
It is a perfect day
I will do the cooking
You can build the fence
We will bury our dead
And remember whence

Very, very nice
I can hear the time you put into this and really appreciate it. Great production, but even better song. Intro reminds me of Elliot Smith. Drums sound great, acoustic excellent. Vox sensational.

Very good stuff,

LL

Good one!
I like the gentle guitar intro followed by the richer orchestration as the song progresses. Vocal has an "inside your head" quality that suits the lyrics. Overtones of Sgt Peppers in the multilayered arrangement. Love that crying guitar. I like the way you end the song, too. Much enjoyed.

Nicely
crafted. Glad you let it have its way. I'm reminded of some of egobandit's style of singing. The guitar is great. Thanks.

boy do i ever understand that feeling of "i have to call it DONE just to stop the madness!" - that being said, i'm so glad you persevered as long as you did, because this is sensational tim! i love that radio voice, and i also really hear the similarity to some of the music egobandit (also a tim!) posts here (maybe you guys should collab sometime!) cool drumming, very inventive bits - great work!

I like very much. The delicate guitar only beginning is excellent. Love the production when the full ensemble comes in. The drums are very Ringo-ish.

poignant
with top-notch production. You've got interesting vocal phrasing that grabs the listener's attention throughout the song, and a catchy set of melodies to work with. Great work.

i like this a lot; the simplicity of the beginning followed by the build and transitions. i really enjoyed your vocal delivery; very honest and assured. reminds me of bowie, lou reed, beatles. you've got a very individual sound and the last 40 seconds are really top-drawer. the fade is perfect.....leaves me with the idea that i've just listened to a timeless classic. well done....really impressive creation.

I dig this a lot. You always manage to record very "full" but "sparse" tracks. Making excellent use of the instruments that are there. Maybe one of my tmcfate atf's.

Picking Dead Flowers
Great picked guitar to start and I like the way the arrangement ebbs and flows throughout. The guitars blend beautifully. Images in the lyric have the feel of a stream of consciousness.

Man, your production has come so far over the years. This sounds excellent. The drums are really crisp and the guitars blend great. I need to figure out how to get that type of tone :) I really like the rhythmic acoustic guitar that drives it all.

Your description ......
... sounds like what I usually write about my tunes haha .... I think this sounds great .... the harmonies track gives it a hint of a Floyd-ian feel in spots .... also gives a nice contrast to the slightly baritone quality of the main vocal track .... I enjoyed the change up between the softness of the acoustic and the punch of the electric .... Pod-worthy ! :)

Like it a LOT.
You have consistently put lots of texture into your songs, but never lose the SONG in the production. I really love your lyrics and your vocal delivery. That's first and foremost. This tune could be done in a million ways, electric, acoustic, or a bit of both as you've done here. I relate to your music very closely, really. This has what I'd call a little departure, allowing yourself to go a little out there with the electric guitar (kind of like 1970 Keith in his heroin prime), and I like it a lot.

Picking Dead Flowers
This is a thoughtful and attractive song which puts music to a meaningful use. I am reminded throught both in general sound and in composition of Jethro Tull's 'War Child' - You have produced an excellent track here. I felt maybe the vocals could be a lttle more up front but that's just my own opinion.

Hi Tim. Finally back in Melbourne. Time well spent, in my opinion. Really like your vocals in this and the way you put the song together. It is a really professional outcome with a sympathetic mix and a fantastic supporting sound bed. One of your best! Take care, Peter.

Awesome work Tim. The guitar is a bit over baring in the lead at around 2:58. Besides that it is another great one. DL'ed
