Breakfast In Bed
Delicious! and Nutritious too :-) Loved that Fixx like synth that zings and zaps through out. Where you been hiding those piano chops Drew, I heard you jamming away at the end there.

btw, thats an awesome view.

Piano chops
KTB, thanks for stopping by. I honestly didn't realize I could pull off a piano solo until I tried one on this tune. After several failed attempts, I got pretty close. It was great to try one though. I wish I could really play since the tonal range is so broad and there are so many sounds you can pick from, unlike a bass. The view....yeah buddy....was a great beach trip.

I enjoy
the R and B to this right out of the shoot, enjoy the industrial feel to this like a well oiled factory going along at full tilt. Like the almost Beatles feel in some way I can't explain. Nice chimes, the lower end bass sound fun and the list goes on. Hope every thing is going WELL for your and your having a happy new year !

Nice symphony sounds mixed in with the rockl.

Way to Go !!!

Beatles
You have a great ear sir. The Beatles sound/feel is from the chord comping, which I basically stole from several of the Beatles' forms. If you listen to some of their music, they seem to comp the chords in a very similar way rhythmically that blends well with the beat. I have always thought it is a great compliment to hear in a song, that comp style, but you rarely hear guitarists comp that way anymore. Thank you for the well wishes and Happy New Year to you also my friend.

Waffles
This is excellent, Drew. I love the buttery, syrupy pulse of the tune. It sounds to me very relaxing, like breakfast in bed at the beach, I guess. Something about the harmonies, sounds and chord progression remind me of Smashmouth (in a good way!). Very nice!

Smashmouth
Hey, I'll take a Smashmouth reference any day! I found 60bps gives a relaxing feel without being slow so-to-speak. I liked how the speed of the beat gave me space in between chord comps and bass notes.

Tx for checking out the tune and commenting. Hope you are doing great and that you have a successful 2012!

piano break
Thanks very much. I was pleasantly surprised how that piano break turned out, since I had never played a piano solo before this tune.

It's a curious thing to me...
When I first joined MacJams I more or less expected that I would run across a lot of synth nuts, folks into electronica and techno and washes of sound...

What I didn't expect was how many excellent and imaginative bass players I'd run into...All different in approach, sound and style...

In the Drew department, I appreciate your ability to solidly anchor a tune, as needed, and then your ability to go anywhere the tune needs to go...So you're solid, but you can embellish, improvise and go places...

I am still getting used this thing you do and have been doing for a while, of doing Guitar-On-The-Piccolo-Bass...

On this one, I get to appreciate the cyclical synth chords, and the keyboarding up on top of that...

I'm impressed and envious that you can do all of this, and apart from all of that, it's just a good and pleasurable listen...

curious
Ed, first, thank you for the nice comments sir. It makes me feel good to know that the bass anchor is there first and foremost in my playing. On top of that, I really do enjoy playing these various instruments to get sounds and expressions. I always felt limited tonally by bass guitar, especially when it came to playing chords. The piccolo opens up some of that tonal range, but the keyboard really opens the door, both tonally in terms of range and also in terms of sounds, textures, notes, instruments, etc. You know that "pleasurable" sound---I really try to accomplish that sound, through the choice of sounds, notes, chords, etc. It really is the goal. I typically write these days simply because I get bored of the music on my itunes playlist and need new, pleasurable music, or I get inspired by something. These instruments definitely help me get the job done. Thanks again for checking out the tune!
