Lyrics
GONE

I don't know where all the money's gone
There's nothing left in my bank account
But still I'm being charged a fee
I don't know where all the jobs have gone
They seem to have disappeared from sea to shining sea
I don't know where all the fun has gone
The good times are all gone and I’m wondering
Does it have anything do with me?
I don't know where all the love has gone
All I can say is it's a mystery to me

I swear I just don't know where all this rain comes from
The clouds that lowered upon this house
Have drenched me in misery
I swear I don't care where all this pain comes from
It feels like it reaches back to the root of the evolutionary tree

At least
you had some good. Wait long enough and there will be a turn around. How long you've got left and how much patience you have is not always up to you. Very cute. Misery loves company. Thanks.

you get such
a unique and consistant sound, and signature. great writing all the way around. the mix seems to change with our my noticing. then .i find the sonic landscape has changed. the words start in your playful way but become quit serious.. i find myself starting to worry.....static and thunder start to fill my head. the thump in the back of the mix is keeping me grounded...great comp warren

Wall of whine
I think this piece was all about achieving an overall wall of sound to underscore the lyrical emotion, rather than having any single elements go solo. There was the usual tinkering with the sonic landscape. Some elements don't fit smoothly, and remain troublesome, but perhaps that helps lend it an edge. I was going to add two more lines to balance the verses, but decided to go with the abrupt chop, figuring nobody wants to hear an endless whine.

I love your latest; will comment soon.

Sometimes
you have to. And you're being charged a fee so that some fatcat banker can get his billion dollar bonus. Whine on...

Its corporate greed,...
running the world. We have every reason to whine, and indeed complain. Very good work!!

Fees like fleas
I read somewhere about someone getting charged a fee for not charging enough.

Our new National Anthem
This was great Warren--I think the little nod to "The Anvil Chorus" sets this off perfectly and appropriately too. An excellent song from conception to realization--one is hard pressed not to identify with every word here. Thanks for sharing this very fine work! Michael

Dropping the anti ...l on my foot
Whenever I back myself, I can't help but wonder how different a song would sound if there were varying voices instead of just my own. How much would additional timbres alter the overall effect? Try as I might, I just can't get my wife to join in (she likes to keep her distance from my music). When you start whining … the words just seems to write themselves.

I like that comment "circling the drain." I may have to appropriate it for a song on my next album, tentatively titled "The Big Flush" : )

Weird - but in a nice way :)
Excellent words in an other-worldly container. Probably not a song to listen to when experiencing any level of internal doubt, the out of kilter backing works perfectly. Music to listen to as the tide comes in.

I am always amazed...
...at how different people express complex ideas in such personal and unique ways. This is certainly "an original." Whining is sure what it is, and you've expressed that perfectly. Now I am completely depressed.

"There's nothing left in my bank account
But still I'm being charged a fee"

I never considered the irony of that event until I heard it in this tune. Very cool!

I like the juxtaposition of the dark lyrics and rather bright and happy groove and melody. I bet the percussion was a lot of fun to put together. Come to think of it, it was probably quite a lot of fun putting the whole thing together. It sure was fun listening.
