Description
a very spontaneous song. all aspects came together very quickly. the lyrics have no deep meaning or any social significance. just being in a bubblegum frame of mind i reckon.

Lyrics
I Saw A Sunbeam

black clouds want to follow me
black clouds want to rain on me
moon dogs want to glare at me

but today i saw
a beam of light break apart
and today i saw
a sunbeam fall to earth
if i could trap a sunbeam in a jar

gray clouds overcast the day
gray clouds bring somber days
sun dogs want to run away

but today i saw
a beam of light break apart
and today i saw
a sunbeam fall to earth
if i could trap a sunbeam in a jar

white clouds don't threaten me
white clouds tend to fade away
blue skies really make a day

but today i saw
a beam of light break apart
and today i saw
a sunbeam fall to earth
if i could trap a sunbeam in a jar

I saw a sunbeam
I like the full backing - those guitars sound great. The solo at 1:29 is excellent - great tone and nice lines. And again for the one that takes the tune out. Vocal works well - the harmony fills it out well. Impressive!

unusual sound. vocals fit well, nice guitar tone. warm chords in the bridge (or is it the chorus?) solo works well - not overdone and serves the song. cheers graham

Nice guitar parts and cool sound on the drums! Love those thick growly guitar chords that you hit and sustain in the chorus. You are getting a nice spacial mix on the guitars. Catchy melody and vocals. Enjoyed this poppy tune!
Cheers

power chords...... this is in drop d tuning. i just dig the sound of a distorted d chord, so i had to get that in :-)

Long lost...
...B-Side. Underrated. I love the rawness on this one. Less polished than usual. I love the quirky kind of cadence on this.
"if i could trap a sunbeam in a jar". Great vocal.

One gripe: The ticking on the left speaker. Sort of a metronome sound. A tad annoying.

Wow, a critique at MJ. lol

very quick piece. total time 3 1/2 hrs from concept to finish, i think this works best without over working it.

i think the tick you hear is a tambourine, i think you mentioned that on a different song as well........ note to self, no more tambourine.

Hey Vic
No one else mentioned, so it can't be that bad. Maybe I have ultra sensitive ears. I had to go to the Ear, nose and Throat doctor a few months back. They tested my hearing. Classified it as A1. Now I, could not believe that after all the years of playing and 5 years playing with the loudest drummer west of the Mississippi!

Great song again Vic.

Love the retro vibe you have going here. There is even sunshine in your voice as you sing. You really live the song.

This is terrific Vic - vocals, guitar work (love the solo), the whole works!

Appreciate the download. It's a keeper.

Thanks,
Doug

originally i massive gain on the power chord guitars, sounded cool but sadly i had to i had to reduce the gain a bit. i think to many distorted overtones creates a frequency problem with clean guitars, that's something i would like to figure out and make it work

Moon dogs will do that
I like the jangly guitar and the energetic feel. It reminds me of something, but I'm not sure what. It doesn't matter, as I like both the song and the song it recalls. XTC? Teardrop? A proper ending too. Joy!

Pop psychedelia...
I like how that bonky bass line plays against the guitar and the drumbeat. It sort of makes it all bop along, and provides that bit of bottom to the whole thing...

I like the thick doubled vocals, and the fuzzy power chords contrasted with the clean trebly arpeggiated chords...The solo has some hints of Richard Lloyd to my ears...

i added the fuzz guitars to fill in the middle spectrum it was a toss up of a synth or the guitars. since i already had the guitar plugged in and in my hands, they won out. the solo is a little wild and the first take

The lyric is whimsical and charming. Strong vocals and the lead break is killer. Strong production, the guitar sound makes it more raw then usual.
